Briedis, Gassiev and Bellew in the same year is an incredible feat.

Ruiz/Wilder can still happen. He'd just have to drop the WBO. Unfortunate, but expected. I just thought it would be the IBF he had to drop. And all this doesn't mean the WBO doesn't get out of the way and allow the unification also.
For comparison, Briedis, Gassiev and Bellew in the same year is NOT a great feat. It's good but please explain how it's great?

    Beating bellew makes someone great
    Gassiev?
    Briedis?

These guys wouldn't be top 10 at lhw or hw.
So beating guys you are suppose to Obliterate makes you great. Not even just win... Not even a 50-50 fight. Bellew was basically retired.

I guess everyone is great now.

Gassiev and Briedis would easily make top 10 in LHW.

We'll see how Gassiev does when he moves up, but Briedis is 4-0 at HW with a huge KO over WBA champ Manuel Charr.

and we'll scrub Bellew beating Haye, because he wouldn't have if Haye wasn't shot...but wasn't Bellew champ at 175?

Usyk was never convinced that he might perform at a top level in the HW division... that's is why he started his pro career at CW...
I agree with you. Heavy is where the money is. But A guy as tall as Usyk that could easily make 200 and be physically larger taller than most in the CW makes a lot of sense. Build ur confidence, face smaller guys, he at least cleaned up. Now he supposedly might get a shot right away at HW. People also love the intrigue of guys moving up. I think it was a good plan. I wonder what the lowest weight wilder made on the scale?

Wilder was fighting under 200lbs in the Ams

and Callium Smith is the same height as Usyk, and he boils himself down to 168

... the "Usyk situation" is too complicated... this guy is trained by Loma's dad -- hence his elaborate style... but he lacks in that "one punch power", which is badly needed in the upper weight divisions... (and I'll never forget that Porter beat Usyk in the junior ams -- as about the "size of the fight in the dog"...)

I've found out that some of these "top cats" started boxing quite late... Usyk started at 15 of age, Joshua started at 18 yo, and Wilder at 20 yo...

The crazier thing about Usyk IMO is his late growth spurt. He's got a lot of interesting names on his amateur resume because of it. (Badou Jack, Shawn Porter, Matt Korobov)

He's beaten fighters in the amateurs who have probably beaten Ruiz.

Ruiz holds no physical advantages over him. Usyk is the same height, has a longer reach but isn't a fat slob. Plus he can move well. It's debateable whether or not Ruiz punches harder.

Ruiz also won't have the handspeed advantage in that fight.

It'll be one of the easiest fights of Usyk's career.
No you don't understand. Everyone here thinks Ruiz is a god now because he landed 1 good punch that changed a fight. The same guy who lost to parker lol. It's gonna be funny when he loses his next fight like Charles Martin.

I can see Oleksandr Usyk putting on a "Sweet Pea" Pernell Whitaker type of performance against the winner of the Ruiz/Joshua rematch from his southpaw stance.
