    The bolded part means it is possible to have a 12-0 scorecard fight when in the actual fight, neither of the fighter have convincingly beat the other because a 10-9 round has almost become a mandatory to score a round. If neither fighter was the convincing winner, why can’t a judge just score it a plain 10-10 round instead of forcing it a 10-9 just to pick up a side which neither deserves?

        if compubox shows 13-10, 11-9 or 22-18 round doesnt mean a judge is going to score for the fighter who landed more, unless the difference is evident judges arent always scoring the round to the fighter who landed more, simply cuz most of the time they dont even know... this isnt amateur ...
        I believe judges keep a general track of punches. If they don't they should be fired. In that article posted Steve said flat out most judges pay more attention to landed punches over other considerations. Now if a fighter is throwing punches in combination it's hard for the judges to tell what is landing or what is blocked.

          Maybe he should put in an application to be a judge!
          Honestly I should have made the votes public...and I should have clarified better where Mr Time was seemingly trying to contort the rules in his favor...but yeah it is funny lol...to be tongue in cheek I added the tie option which I was hoping would get some votes...I honestly just thought it was a funny thread and wanted to rib Time a little bit, no hard feelings to him

            Got ya bro...yes I think we are in agreement on everything...didn't know if you were advocating for a 12-0 score in those fights but I think I understand your point...that a judge in today's system could score a 6-6 fight 12-0...and leave us all scratching our heads and disappointed.

                As you've seen scoring here is almost 100% just a popularity contest. He likes his style, he only sees what he wants to see. Things like that.

                If style was so legit then "Mexican style" would lose every fight but and people would only focus on boring defensive fights.

                I'm a big fan of fighters who move forward and evade. It's because they have purpose. I dislike fighters who have "defense" and dont fight.

                That's like saying a guy who runs the entire round and doesnt waste punches to keep his percentage high wins the round. That's not boxing. That isnt ring generalship. That isnt even defense.
                I guess some people don’t appreciate when a fighter looks like he is wasting punches to no avail and prefers people who are conservative with their punches with good style and movement. Maybe they want to see a perfect looking boxer with minimal mistakes.

                Sometimes, things like that makes people forget the main point of the fight which is to hit your opponent.

                  I agree. In close round you have to use other means of deciding the winner. Even rounds are not allowed.

                    Good natured ball breaking is cool, but when a ''fan'' gets all HAM.....C'mon now.

                      1) learn the game..... and at least develop a genuine love for it, before you decide to waltz in and butcher the sport by removing 3 of the 4 official scoring criteria

                      2) learn to appreciate ALL fighters, and ALL styles

                      especially defence-first fighters, and technicians

                      if your guy, cannot beat those guys..... then you are either backing the wrong horse, or you are in the wrong game

                      the rules/criteria will not change or bend just to suit your guy

                      3)
                      * clean hard punching
                      * defence
                      * ring generalship
                      * effective aggression

                      nothing else

                      4) my earlier advice to watch lower-level fights, will help learning and appreciating all of the above

                      I only hear true outrage when a fan favorite gets beaten by a better technician..... rinse wash repeat

                      I will include the following as #5..... not to rub shlt in your face, just because..... it is utterly ridiculous..... and yes, I realize that you were not the only one

                      the way that some of you guys loudly declared how easy it was to score a fight..... but then immediately proved that you don't even know the basics..... (that not all landed punches score)..... (and that all 4 official criteria are valid at ALL times, with clean hard punching being the main criteria)..... was funny as hell, seriously
                      Not as funny as you who pretend to be an expert but can't judge a fight objectively. You talk a good game but when then give some of the most distorted views of how fights have played out that I have ever heard.
