Ruiz has some interesting comments on the Bill Simmons podcast

DAZN is a sponsor of the podcast so they had Ruiz come in for an interview.
When talking about the rematch he said that he controls the terms when asked about going to the UK.
Seems most reports say Hearn says where the fight happens in the rematch clause.
Did Haymon get one over on Hearn because they didn’t think Ruiz had a shot or is it a case of him maybe not knowing the particulars.
Either way was a good interview. Hard not to root for the guy.

Hearn said on IFL earlier "anyone who knows anything about boxing" should know the answer, indicating that the purse is fixed and location is up to them.

Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows the purse isn't fixed in the rematch because you can't determine the worth of the Challenger before he wins. That was Wilder's main point of contention with the 2 fighter offer.

            Welcome to boxing

            You are wrong

Wilder used anything to duck but a ****** idiot like you who spreads fake news would of course go on about it

You also said Joshua wasn’t signed to dazn

            Joshua wasn’t guaranteed

You weed dwellers know little about anything other than growing plants

B sides usually get fixed fees, eg Ruiz got 5m

In the contract it would state if he were to win, for the rematch he would get x fee

You know nothing about the sport, the purses are already agreed, twat, now fk off outta here bum

One has to look at your threads, the last 10 have been fake news from the ldbc channels you pretend is real

Are you saying Hearn who controlled the context of the contract knows more than the wilder fans and the ldbc crew about the inner works of the contract

              ?

You sure about that buddy as the Haymon henchman on here seem adamant they know best about it

That’s just Hearn being Hearn. Nobody knows the details. Has nothing to know about “knowing about boxing.”

Kovalev didn’t call any shots in the rematch.

I suspect there is leeway he has via the power he has by owning the belts right now. So I tend to think Eddie has less control then he's suggesting, but I have no doubt he has the words on paper that give him the edge in power. But its more a two way street thats for sure.

Sh^t Ruiz could just start vacating belts if he wanted to f#cking up the whole unified champ thing. Not saying he would cuz thats likely to f#ck up his money & rep, but just trying to indicate through an extreme example that Ruiz has some power here.

Ruiz begged Hearn for the fight.

Hearn knew Ruiz was an Al Haymon fighter.

No way did the contract give Ruiz any real clout of power of authority for any potential rematch.

Ruiz is a good guy and all and this is a real Cinderalla story but Ruiz is being totally naive if he thinks he can just rewrite the contract now. Hearn/Matchroom/DAZN are not idiots.
