Comments Thread For: Joshua: I Didn't Underestimate Ruiz; Nothing Was Wrong With Me

NEW YORK Unlike most heavily favored champions that lose, Anthony Joshua didn't offer any excuses for Andy Ruiz Jr. upsetting him Saturday night. The English icon respectfully credited Ruiz for beating him at a sold-out Madison Square Garden. The former IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion didn't blame referee Michael Griffin for stopping their fight in the seventh round and didn't attribute his stunning technical-knockout defeat to anything that occurred during training camp or fight week.

My friend in 3. round you thought Ruiz was done. You desperately tried to finish him, invited him closer, but it turned to your worst nightmare. If you had some patience, kept the distance, picking by jab, waiting on a big cross..it could be different.

There definitely seemed to be something wrong with him. I guess Joshua simply overlooked Ruiz and got caught.

There was nothing wrong, just not Josh night it happens.
People expected Charles Martin to do better and when he didn't people asked what's wrong with Charles martin? Josh has had 20 or so good nights, it wasn't his on US debut.
Bad timing but it is what it is

There’s no guarantee he’ll win the rematch so any excuses or problems need to be kept under the rug.

If did go into the fight at less than 100% then that’s implying Ruiz doesn’t get full credit which would create immense pressure on Joshua to win the rematch. He doesn’t need anymore pressure at this point.

                    Yeah, like idiot.

Ruiz was here to get beaten by a champ. he looked like he lacks some self confidence. But when Ruiz found out that Joshua fights like idiot, he just did his job just like against many mediocre fighters he fought.
