Makes you wonder if he's already starting to slow down, from frequently using his head to protect the rest of his body from punches. He's very fan-friendly, but that normally means a career shorter than normal, with less time spent at world level.

We all like you Hurd so take my advise
I have been around this sport I believe longer than anyone in his corner in fact even today I’m slicker and smarter than Hurd why because I was taught basic fundamentals and balance and if Hurd can put those things together he’ll be a force from 154-168 with his build but you have to correct your wrongs.

I was on husband duty Sat night and still haven’t watched the fight. I applaud Hurd wanting an immediate rematch. But, that needed to be his last fight at 154. He’s too big for the division. He indicated in the article that he wants his belts back. Forget those belts. Avenging his first loss is more important than a belt. He’s gonna need to be at his best to do that. And I don’t think he can be at his best at 154. He needs to negotiate the fight at 160. Or at least a catchweight around 157 or 158. And seeing how JRock has to strip naked to make weight, I doubt he’d object. Especially with the added bonus of not having to risk losing his newly won title.

Great inside instincts by j rock, he knew how to pivot and move on the inside and it was damn near masterful, Andre ward esque
He proved you can lose, get sent to hell by a knockout and still bounce back
No shame on Hurd, he just need to refine his skills a bit more
I like what j rock said about Haymon getting him out a Gary Shaw contract, “Thank you Al Haymon, he got me out my Gary Shaw contract I don’t want to brag but I got a million dollars in properties because of him” say what u want about Haymon but he seemingly keeps his fighters, even guys who were not as accomplished as j rock, financially secure
And isn’t that more important, it’s one thing to be thrown checks at you a la DAZN to wilder etc, but isn’t it More important to have equity, financial literacy, own IP and properties in your name to build a legacy for you and yours
It’s one thing to take a check it’s another thing to do build something like Nipsey, ownership is key, I guess that’s why Haymon fighters start to have their own promotional companies, ownership
Thurman manny finally announced, that’s cool and all especially since it’s fox, but it’s ppv, I’m gonna assume it’s ppv cause manny wants the extra cash, it is what it is, I’m against ppv especially at $75, but all in all it’s a good matchup and I think manny has a shot
Learn from J Rock, learn on how SOME boxers are urged to invest, and some are on their own to figure out things

I was rooting for Jrock but I thought Hurd was going to win late or on the cards.
If Hurd makes some adjustments he can win. If Hurd comes in the second time around and stays on the outside of Jrock he will lose.

Hurd was on cloud 9 fighting at home with all the distractions of being a Champ and looking ahead to fighting one of the Charlos.
He took the fight lightly, didn’t prepare properly and got beat.
A immediate rematch is in order and it will be a better fight than the first. At least from Hurd.
