"Lightweight world titlist Richard Commey’s first defense likely will come against former titleholder Ray Beltran in a fight that is close to being finalized and would headline a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card on June 28 at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California, multiple sources with knowledge of the plans told ESPN on Tuesday night. The winner would be in position to make a mandatory defense against the winner of the July 19 eliminator between Teofimo Lopez Jr. and Masayoshi Nakatani later in the year. Beltran’s team had been in talks with Top Rank about a possible fight with junior welterweight titlist Jose Ramirez before the Commey fight came up."

Surely this opens the door for Joshua to challenge Wilder and the WBC have to order it should they both win their upcoming fights. They have set the precedent by ordering Campbell vs Loma
There should be normal mandatories every year to 18 months, but there should also be mandatory unifications, and its by chance you dont get to pick which one of the other titlists you unify with, if you want to keep the belt. There needs to be constant momentum in any sport for it to be interesting, in this case, always pushing towards 1 champion in every division, undisputed, by mandate if they're not willing to do it voluntarily.Last edited by Boxing Logic; 05-08-2019, 03:35 PM.
