Comments Thread For: Chavez Sr: Canelo Among Mexico's Best 10, But Not in Top 3 or 4

The man who many view as the greatest Mexican fighter in history, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., believes Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is now among the ten best Mexican fighters in boxing history. But, he feels Canelo still has a ways to go before he reaches the level of being in the top three or four on that list.

He will most likely surpass everyone except for Marquez who I consider at the top of the list! Guys like Oscar de la Hoya and Chavez SR didn’t do themselves any favors at the end of their careers by partying so much! They made ****** choices and ruined near perfect legacy’s

Oscar's not considered Mexican, he's not Mexican bien. His father is from Durango though.

Wow! The Canelo hate is very strong in Mexico. Even the legends are jealous of him. Before his career is over he will be in the top 3.

Roberto Duran will always be better than any self defined Mexican. Just facts.

Nothing wrong with what Julio is saying, Mexico’s boxing history runs very very deep so being within the top 10 at only 28 yrs old is pretty damn impressive and who knows by the time he’s done he might be within the top 5.

most boxers, legends, stay humble and don't claim, they let the fans decide history.

Thats fair considering his age and not really dominating as of yet although besides Sanchez in brief comparison has fought the toughest at such a young age. If he unifies fully 160 and wins ring ****zine belt at 168 vs Smith he's Top 5 imo.
