Comments Thread For: Ajagba: I'm One, Two Years Away From Fighting Top Heavyweights

Efe Ajagba will take what could be considered a slight step up in competition Saturday night in Las Vegas. The hard-hitting Nigerian heavyweight is set to square off against Germany's Michael Wallisch in a 10-rounder Showtime will broadcast from The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan. The 33-year-old Wallisch was unbeaten before Germany's Christian Hammer knocked him out in the fifth round of Wallisch's last fight, December 15 in Hamburg.

This dude has bigger potential than Joyce, sure, he is younger.

At least he’s more realistic than Joyce I guess who seems to fancy jumping the queue.

It’d be good to get some of these guys facing each other in their next few fights - sort the wheat from the chaff. I’m talking Dubois, Gorman, Hrigovic, Kuzmin, Joyce, Ajagba, Zhang, Bakole, maybe Yoka if he sorts out the ban situation... and Wallin & Bryan too, before any of them fight the top 4 or 5.

Joyce is 33 or something like that, he has no time to wait. Efe is 25, much different situation.

I think he's in a stable that will prevent him from fighting the very best but I can't wait to watch him destroy wallisch

Yeah - I know that Joyce is getting on in boxing terms, but that doesn’t mean he can just jump straight into title fights without fighting contenders (or bringing a boat load of money).

I’d realistically put Efe and Joyce a similar distance away from a title challenge at the minute.

                Lomachenko did it very fast.

Exactly, take your time, don’t be rushed. Learn the pro game, build up your skills, build a fan base on the USA, and then go for it. Get about 6-7 more fights and then a shot at the title
