Comments Thread For: Shawn Porter Believes PPV Fight Against Errol Spence is Next

Errol Spence Jr. has repeatedly said that Shawn Porter avoided him by opting for a mandatory title defense against Yordenis Ugas earlier this month. If that was the case, it appears Porter is no longer avoiding Spence.

Props to Spence for the 350K-400K PPV buys but I don't see myself paying for another one. Undercard for his last one was awful, they would need to put some real good fights on this one

Spence mission is to clean out the 147 division.

People always overlook the fact that these guys are managed and told what to say by the same guy. It looks like Thurman vs Pacman and Spence vs Porter coming our way.

Porter's waited until Spence got to PPV level and their payday was going to be big enough to step up and take the challenge. I saw some interview with both of them where Kenny says I heard the PPV did really good numbers, which is good for us or something like that.

This is a SHO level fight that will go on PPV. Really curious to see if they view Spence as primarily a PPV fighter going forward.

That is what we will get next, but I don't agree with that. They aren't told to say the same things. If they want something, they will get it. Mikey Garcia by no means was ever told to chase the Spence fight. In fact, Haymon brushed him off the first time and then asked him the second time what his father and brother thought of the fight. If Porter or DSG badly wanted Spence, they would have got him. The company line is a lazy excuse IMO.

Doubt that's going be a PPV fight... Porter's fan base is not as big as Mikey, Pac or even AB.

Ppv is gonna be a hard sell for this one. Porter isn’t gonna bring the same buys mikey did especially after that lackluster showing against Ugas. Would be intersting to see how much ppv it actually moves.

ppv....lol!! good luck cracking 100k buys without a well known hispanic fighter opposing Spence!! Garcia fight was a snoozefest...Porter's style will make for an even uglier snoozer!!

Oh for sure, I'm not saying Porter and Danny have been chasing Spence and no doubt they could've got that fight earlier if they wanted, but Al has the best interest of all his top fighters, he probably told them 'look you can get the fight now, but there's more money in it a few fights down the line', while telling Spence 'I've told them you are available to fight, but they will probably wait until the fight is worth more'. I'm guessing Al is advising Porter that now is a good time to start mentioning Spence's name as that fight is now worth the risk.
