Pacman "has earned the right to fight Spence"?!?!

    Such blasphemy!!

Spence NEEDS Pac more than Pac needs Spence!!

      I mean yes.

We are talking about a guy here (Spence) who is a big name and big attraction in the sport of boxing. The top names in the sport are on his platform, under the same promoter, same weight class, basically everything you can imagine to make fights as easy as possible to get done.

Yet, he hasn't fought those guys for some unknown reason in two full years of being a champion. He's been calling all their names, and none of them have been willing to get in the ring with him. Now we have Pacquiao who holds a title and is coming off two wins, and all of a sudden Errol Spence is getting openly criticized in news articles by boxing writers for wanting to fight him. The only guy other then Mikey Garcia and very recently Shawn Porter who have openly said they would fight him is Pacquiao.

Guy is probably the most avoided fighter in boxing considering all of these circumstances, and yet we are criticizing his opposition? Go look at his resume, it's actually pretty good all factors considered.

Why is it that a guy can go out there and put on a hell of a performance against a great fighter on a successful PPV, and start receiving negativity now all of a sudden? Where was this before when he was and still is being avoided? Boxing is a disgusting sport media wise. Andre Ward was spot on about that.

Real question is why are these top fighters in the division getting a pass for this?
Why aren't they fighting each other?
Spence has yet to fight Crawford, Thurman, Garcia, Porter.
        What are these clowns doing?
Why are they trying to fight a 40 yr old, non prime fighter?

It is a good matchup. Pacquiao is a top 5 welterweight.

I hate how the author is acting like Spence isn't getting called out by these smaller guys. If they are calling him out then he isn't picking on anyone.

De La Hoya passed the torch to Pacquiao.

Now it's Pacquiao's turn to pass the torch to Spence.

The greats of this generation need the name recognition and legitimacy that only comes from beating a great from the previous generation.

              It keeps boxing healthy.

SPENCE vs PAC is the biggest fight of 2019. It will break the previous record attendance at Cowboy Stadium.

You are making a big mistake by counting out Manny Pacquiao as not a dangerous opponent of Spence and, imo, will beat Spence. Call it an upset if you will, but Manny is no Mikey and you know that unless you are not watching or following boxing. Manny has still his legs with him and is boxing smart. But I implore that you guys count Manny out because once Manny beats Spence he will be proclaimed the greatest boxer of ALL TIME

Spence is a fighter who does everything well, but nothing spectacularly brilliant. I rate him highly, but he wouldn't beat the prime or near prime of De La Hoya, Whitaker, Mosley, Forrest, Mayweather and Pacquaio.

                      Not quite Duran/Leonard

Physical dimension-wise the matchup is similar to Duran/Leonard, but age and style make it different. Duran hit like a mule, even as a welterweight and his slipping and countering negated a lot of Leonards reach advantage. Pac has different strengths, even at 40, it seems, as he may still be quicker and his resume is far superior. I won't say Pac can't win because of what I watched Duran do to Leonard, Moore, Hagler, and Barkley but Pac is at the age where many fighters lose the ability to pull the trigger. The timing can go suddenly, even during a fight. I'll watch and hope both fight well and escape serious injury. Kinda still rooting for Pac, even though I think Spence is a class act.
