At this point, Kov is definitely not the same, but I think still good enough to win. I wouldn't count yards out though. If he catches kov on the chin like ward and Alvarez, might hear "And New!"

I'm going with Yarde, he does something very well that is Kovalev Absolute Weakness and that is BODY PUNCHING!

Not worried about the "Who Has He Fought" "He Hasn't Fought Anybody" every fighter was once at that stage in their career. This is how STARS are born, when fans and boxing experts doubt them and they go out and do what everybody said they couldn't do

I feel the Shoulder Roll and Yarde Quickness will Frustrate Kovalev on top of just getting Kovalev at the right time. The Alvarez rematch performance is being completely overblown, that to me was more about what Alvarez DID NOT DO! Terrible Gameplan from Him in that rematch!

Yarde should go for it. It's not the end of the world if he loses, and he might win. We don't really know how good he is yet, this would tell us. Its win, win unless he gets violently KOd early.

Wow am shocked that Team Yarde are actually going for it. The only reason the WBO would order it is if Team Yarde wanted that fight. For once am giving Yarde props. Fighting the level he has been fight to jumping in with Kovalev is something to applaud them on.

Frank and Tundi are praying for the Bivol unification to be made!

I think Yarde can beat the Kovalev that lost to Alvarez but I think he loses the boxing match against the rematch Kovalev. Really hope Yarde steps up, wins the fight and calls out Hosea Burton after!

I agree unless the Kov that most of thought would show up last fight(shot)then this is a bridge to far.Yarde is raw like you pointed out and defense is lacking. Also has not had to show true grit in a 12rd fight and with his defense and Kov's power he will in this fight.Really don't see them taking fight but maybe their banking on last fight being Kov's last stand. He looked MUCH better then I expected and ill admit I thought he would be KOed easier then 1st.He seemed a bit weak mentally and doing what he did(come back and beat guy that KOed him)last fight he showed he was not done and stronger mentally then what I thought.

Kovalev fans that I know anyway never did. I certainly never have. In fact I've been seeing this ****storm brewing for months now. At first, Yarde was viewed as the cant miss next big thing at 175. Then he had ONE off performance. Plus he talks too much while still just being a prospect, it turned all the UK fans against him. Instead of saying he's the next big thing that would KO Kovalev, like they and even some American boxing fans were saying a couple years ago, they've turned to saying he's a joke now. This in turn has rubbed off on American fans who think he's a joke even though they've never seen him fight just because they see the UK fans talking about what a joke he is.

So now if Yarde KO's old Kovalev, which he has a real chance at doing, Kovalev fans like me are going to be inundated with a ****storm of casual fans saying "Kovalev got KO'd by the joke Yarde! You guys said he had no chance but look what happened!"

No no, YOU guys said he had no chance. Not me. At least, you guys said that after previously saying he would KO him and everyone else at 175.

So no, I see the danger in someone with good (inconsistent but good when he does it) head movement, elite speed, and elite or near elite power, experience or not. How could you not? And vs someone who was KO'd just two fights ago. If this fight gets made, it will be one of the most exciting matchups on the calender. Two of the most talented boxer-punchers in the sport, Kovalev and Yarde. One experienced but aging, one totally unproven but it's still clear to see the talent that is there, even if the lack of experience also means he has some technical flaws still. Maybe in Kovalev's prime those technical flaws would be a dealbreaker, but with Kovalev not punching as hard anymore, all it may really mean is Yarde has to walk through a few shots before getting the KO. It doesn't mean he can't win.

That's just it with Kov's power and Yarde defense he may very well get beat up bad and stopped. They better hope Kovalev looks like the fighter a lot of us thought would show up last fight(shot) or this is wrong time. But if he can make it at least somewhat competitive and avoid taking a beating then like someone else above pointed out its just a loss. And fighters losing to top fighters should not be punished in ratings or here. But I think its too early to get win unless Kov's losses it.

Good point about the WBO. Frank must want this. I thought Yarde looked better in his last fight but not ready for Kovalev.
