I really have no problem with Figueroa winning, but the scorecards were embarrassing.

Molina won more than two rounds, clearly.

Should have been 96-94 or a draw.

Molina landed the flashy big right hand a few times but he was the one that actually was getting hurt with right hands all night. Omar's conditioning down the stretch was poor but he was doing the cleaner work for the most part. I thought you could have had it as close as a draw since he let molina back into the fight in the back half but you couldn't have molina winning imo. The scores were a bit wide but they recognized figueroa was landing the flusher punches besides the occasional big right hand from molina. I thought 96-94 figueroa was about right. Obviously joe goosen's biased commentary played a factor in people's perception on screen but omar was slipping a lot of the shots from john and buckled molina repeatedly throughout the fight.

Yep. We've seen way too much bad scoring/officiating in sports in recent years. IMO, worse than it's been in ages.

You are right but how long will that be I wonder? Omar needs to stay busy and in the gym. Being undefeated means nothing if you aren't active and rising in the ranks beating better opposition.

Perfect assessment of the fight. If you pay too much attention to the commentary, Goosen would have you thinking Molina clearly won the fight with more effective punching since he kept mentioning that every time Molina landed a punch. He ignored the bulk of Figueroa's work as if it wasn't happening. It might not have been an outstanding performance by Figueroa but he clearly did enough to at least earn a draw. There were close rounds but the large majority of landed punches were by Omar making 7-5 a very acceptable score. Anything from 9-3 and beyond is too much though. Molina wasn't given enough credit by the judges and too much credit by the commentators.
