He fought Vanes and got stripped last May. why didn't he fight Andrade or Derevy who were eager and willing to fight him in a month's notice ?

Any reason why GGG chose to get stripped instead of fighting Andrade and Derevy ?

GGG could have at least picked Andrade instead of Vanes. Pretty sure he won’t get stripped to since Andrade is a legit MW unlike Vanes who last fought years ago at SWW before fighting GGG

Not saying Vanes and Canelo have the same style but Andrade is a southpaw and nothing like what G was preparing for. He’d have to get all new sparring partners, and change everything on short notice. While taking a pay cut. **** that ****.

Because Andrade & Devre are both top MW and most likely give Golovkin a tough fight at the very least and possibly pull off the upset
Why would Golovkin or his team take that risk when there’s another winning lottery ticket as far how much he’ll make fighting Canelo in the rematch which was basically a guarantee to happen in September
HBO was offering sh.it $ whether it was Vanes / Andrade / Devre so what’s the point
Anyone in his position would have done the exact same thing , who’s going to take a big risk and risk out on a guaranteed 8 figure payday in 4 months . Anyone would do the same and if you wouldn’t your a f.ucking ******Last edited by R_Walken; 02-05-2019, 03:07 AM.

Probably, in both cases the reasons were more to do with on the one hand salvaging as much as possible of his reduced purse, and wanting to avoid protracted negotiations - and on the other not wanting to put the Canelo rematch in jeopardy, or take too dangerous a fight without proper preparation.
What's your take?... I wouldn't be too sure the IBF wouldn't have stripped him for fighting anyone except D'Chenko, although there is some oddness around the whole situation because technically the IBF jumped the queue in the rotation... despite Canelo being suspended GGG was still technically obligated to fight his WBC mando first, so we'll never know how things would have played out... a complicated situation all round.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 02-05-2019, 03:21 AM.

BUT if you look at it in hindsight maybe facing Andrade/Dev instead of Can would have been better. He might win, then duck a loss to Canelo, and then still be champ today.
MAYBE it might have been better to take the tough fight. But then again he might well have lost too, thats why he ducked in the first place.
Why not though just fight Dev for ONE title, the IBF, and not put the others on the line?
