I think that's what he's quoted as saying in the article. That the only way to settle the debate is for him to fight Loma. I don't think Davis is on Loma's radar so until he is, maybe folks should hold off on that s hit talk in this regard. Fights get made when both parties want the fight and feel the timing is right. Loma has clearly stated that he'll fight for late winter early spring then fight Mickey after Mickey fights Spence.

I still can't figure why it's a problem for a two-division champ to say he feels like he should be in the p4p discussion to some people.

He touched Marriaga coming off a loss at a lower weight though. He also touched former WBA regular champion Jason Sosa rather than then super champion Jezreel Corrales. Not saying he ducked Corrales but Sosa is a Mares or lower level opponent.

The funny part about this fight is if it was Mares vs Loma you guys would paint Mares as Ali, Loma fought a guy 2 divisions lower, but you guys had no problem then...............Maybe if
Davis losses to a journyman, he can get more credit (loma vs salido)

Loma's last opponent was horrible but the five guys before that were very good.

The problem here is Davis is fighting a washed up fighter who is 2-2 out of his last four fights and he is smaller than Davis and Davis is claiming p4p status over this

Good point in noting that Lomachenko doesn't care about Davis right now. Everyone is saying that Davis should fight him, but he couldn't even if he wanted to because Lomachenko is busy with other guys. Davis can use this time to build his stock.

There are too many belts that you can cherry pick off of weaker champions for me to care much about multi division champions anymore (Broner is a 4 division champ lol), but I understand why guys proclaim themselves the best or among the best when they clearly aren't. He's welcome to prove us wrong, but so far he doesn't seem to be in much of a rush.

pretty good fight for tank but even a knockout won't put him in the p4p top 15..he does have the potential to be rated no 1 someday if he stays disciplined and dedicated to his craft and if he's given the right fights to claim the spot...alot of 'ifs' but it's quite achievable for someone as talented as him

I remember when Mares was on a stellar run about 4-5 years ago before losing to Jhonny *******..... pretty sure that he was ranked P4P at that point

Fair point, but being in the discussion means you're among the best (IMO), and he wants to prove it with a lukewarm body. While Davis certainly looks good on paper, his level of opposition and activity level are not convincing. Still, I understand that fighters have to have this confidence to go far in the sport, but bragging about nothing is at an all time high right now. Even promoters are doing it.

Mares has an EXCELLENT corner and looks much, much better. He just went 12 tough rounds woth Leo who is easily a top 5 p4per. Dont know why everyone think Tank is just gonna walk all over him??? I think it goes 12 rounds. And betting the over. If Ibget good odds ill take Mares also...

My only question is will Tank make weight???
