Comments Thread For: Bellew To Uysk: I'm The A-Side, You Get a Flat Fee, I Pay You

Tony Bellew got a bit fired up after reading various interviews where Oleksandr Usyk referred to himself as the A-side of Saturday's fight. Bellew will challenge Usyk for his WBO, WBA, IBF, WBC cruiserweight titles at Manchester Arena. The majority of everyone in the venue will be in attendance to back the challenger.

After this fight Usyk becomes the A-side in all future PPV bouts except the Joshua fight. Usyk is already a bigger name than Chisora & Whyte in the UK and a bigger name than Miller in the US. Those 3 are potentially the next opponents of Usyk.

... It's Hearn the one who's paying -- it's his business... as his business was the "making up" of Bellew...

Usyk the undisputed champion, Bellew is the challenger. Im sure that's all Usyk meant. If someone asked him who the bigger draw was in western countries with big economies where these fights generally take place, like the UK or the U.S. (obviously not in Ukraine or necessarily europe at large), Usyk would admit it's Bellew, no problem. So this is a non-story but maybe Bellew is just hyping the fight, or maybe he is grasping at straws as the fight closes in and he realizes what he's up against. I don't know. Respect to how Bellew has handled everything though. And good on him not being a diva even though it was done to him. Canelo and Cotto could both learn a thing.

I'd say bellew piping up about being the a side and that he pays usyk is fairly diva of him?

He's giving himself credit for not demanding his name be first like Haye did to him. But he wasn't a defending champ vs Haye so it's hardly the same situation. When did Usyk even make any 'A side' comments?

Almost certainly just a slight misunderstanding over what was meant by the 'A' side... Usyk probably simply meant that's he's champion and was bringing the belts. It's not like he doesn't know who's paying for this ish. A-side is one of those contextual things, and whilst generally we tend to use it in a financial sense, that's hardly set in stone and certainly not something a non-English speaker would necessarily understand.

              Non news.

Not even close. If Usyk isn't fighting a Brit he won't sell **** in the UK.

Bellew seems not to understand him... not about money mate. I think he’s talking about who is the champ or who is the favorite

IMO Usyk´s debut at Heavyweight will be against Chisora on April 13th as Joshua´s Co Main Event.
