Not only is it a crappy way to lose your title, it was also warming into a really good competitive fight... both of them shown good qualities and Donaire started to find his way a little bit... its a shame we didn't get to find out how it would pan out. Hopefully the injury isn't serious and we get to see a rematch.

Tough way to lose a belt. Probably a blessing in disguise.

The precision and accuracy with which Nonito was landing his heavy shots, it was really just a matter of time before Burnett folded.

You clearly know nothing about different injuries man. I've had a disc bulge/ herniated disc, which is most likely what Burnett has. When it goes you can't even stand up straight, let alone throw punches. Like another post said, some injuries you can fight through, like a shoulder, but never lower back. You're right though, Burnett doesn't owe you ****. He was winning the fight though, although Donaire was very much in it. No way was that a BS injury.

Spot on mate. Was watching it with the wife and she said when Burnett went down it was like watching me before my spine op. It's a killer when that sort of pain hits, the disc bulges out and presses on the nerves down a leg, completely taking it away underneath you like a daisy-cutter. If he needs a similar op himself to what I had thats at least a year before he's ready to start training with any intensity.

Yep, the big question is whether he has an op and has a long spell out, or if he just let's it heal, which is usually a month or two.
I've been plagued by lower back issues mate, I'm a fitness fanatic and it rears it's head every so often, then settles down again. When it goes, I literally can't do anything for a few days to a week, but 10 days later I'm back training like nothing happened. I've never had the op though, private physios and my doctor just told me to let it heal naturally, which it does eventually.
Pro athletes usually have the op though, which like you said is a long spell out. All depends how much it bothers him.
If you google David Haye's retirement statement, he had a secret operation for a disc that completely wore away, but that's extreme. I've not had an MRI for years, I just hope mine doesn't end up like that!

And the award for complete and utter **** of the day goes to... Boxfan83 come on down. Congratulations. Burnett was winning that fight, he had a bad injury that prevented him from continuing. You can't grasp those simple facts though ****head. I never said Donaire didn't win fair and square, I like the guy, he's a great fighter.
Spewing bull**** about Burnett faking an injury is ridiculous though, you clearly exist in the keyboard warrior douche category of boxingscene posters. Go **** yourself.

This. I went back and watched the fight; Nonito's left hook was landing for real. No one at that weight is going to keep eating that shot and come out with the W... it was just a matter of time until he was KOd.

I was wondering if Burnett felt something in the 3rd. He went back to the corner and was immediately talking to Booth.
I couldn't pick it up but heard the words 'Waistline' and 'Can't move it'.

I like the WBSS commentary team. Barry Jones is real good IMO. Not too sure on him doing the interviews though, he seemed a bit stuttery while interviewing Donaire.
McIntosh had a bit of an off night but is usually good I feel.

Donaire was classy as always post fight.
