Maybe so, but in recent years the dunk contest has been hot garbage. It doesn't even bring out the big names like in the past. I guess James by-passing it took its rank down.

The skills contest are usually okay, but its nothing to write home about. I don't think a ppv event will have a hard time competing especially when you can watch the Allstar joints during undercard

I mean maybe, maybe not. Last year's event averaged 7.7-7.8 million viewers. That's still quite a bit. Can the PPV still do decent numbers on that day? Possibly, but I wouldn't recommend going up against it.
