I said previously that DAZN would be very, very aggressive in securing Canelo's signature. They simply couldn't allow ESPN or Showtime to sign him or they were facing a real uphill battle. He's the number 1 fighter in the sport for driving subscriptions, and being the cashcow that he is, this will force other fighters to fight on DAZN, at least on a one-off basis. Nobody ever turned down a fight with Mayweather because of the network he was on.

With what Matchroom Sport USA has shown so far, you could cut that deal down to a third and it'd still likely be an overpay.
Where exactly are gym going to consolidate their fighters and air them other than DAZN?
Where exactly is miller going to go if not DAZN considering he would have to petition for a WBC ranking (pay) when he has admitted he doesn't want to do VADA because he knows he won't get wilder any time soon? He literally did an interview last week where he stated Hearn is the only promoter he has dealt with that has followed up in his words in terms of money and activity. He knows he has no reason to deserve an AJ shot right now he mentions it to keep himself relevant and good on him for it.
Tevin farmer is more than happy with matchroom co-promotion and this is evident from his current statements. He's going to get gervonta afterwards is he? When's gervonta fighting? The guys crying out to his own promotional team for fights. You can't say people will leave to fight others who aren't even getting fights and are in complete professional disarray themselves like tank.
Those who are in co-promotional deals right now will more than likely extend, they're active and getting paid which is much more than can be said for their previous environments .

DAZN just got access to the Golden Boy not just future fights but also their past library which is a sneaky good deal in itself. You have a ton of classic Canelo fights in addition to Oscar De La Hoya, Hopkins, Mosley, and Floyd Mayweather fights. People forget Floyd fights from when he fought Oscar until he fought Manny are all property of Golden Boy. Just like Top Rank owns old Oscar and Floyd fights when they were still fighting under Top Rank and put them on ESPN as part of his deal.
That means Floyd vs Hatton, Floyd vs Maidana, Floyd vs Oscar, Floyd vs Cotto, ect likely all will be on DAZN
The deal with Golden Boy also will give DAZN access to the roughly 7,000-hour library of Golden Boy's fights, including from De La Hoya's Hall of Fame career. Golden Boy Media and Entertainment also will produce various shoulder programs to complement the live events.Last edited by bigdunny1; 10-17-2018, 07:27 AM.

Remember when idiots were saying Golden Boy would fall apart without Schaefer? That Canelo should of left Golden Boy?LMAO
Look at where he is at right now and look where all those fighters that left are at right now. Look at where Schaefer is at right now and look where Golden Boy is at right now. Schaefer started his own promotion company 2 years ago and nobody cares about it. No big name has signed with Schaefer including none of the old golden boy fighters. Canelo's paydays have grown by leaps and bounds ever since Schaefer was booted out and just signed the richest contract in sports history. Golden Boy just signed a deal with DAZN and they have Ryan Garcia maybe the next cash cow of boxing and 2017 prospect of the year. They got Vergil Ortiz the leading candidate for 2018 prospect of the year. They just signed Munguia the biggest Mexican prospect. They are in talks to sign the next big deal from Mexican Eduardo Hernandez. Golden Boy really didn't skip a beat without Schaefer. And all those Haymon fighters so far are staying independent and haven't signed with Schaefer who struggles to put on any events with his promotion. Haymon got his own deal with PBC that has nothing to do with Schaefer. Schaefer is the odd man out not making cash.
Canelo made the right decision staying with Golden Boy
