Comments Thread For: Johnson On Beterbiev: Kovalev Was An Indestructible Beast, Too

Callum Johnson accepted their fight so quickly, Joe Gallagher repeated Artur Beterbiev's name over the phone to make sure Johnson heard what he said. The largely unknown British light heavyweight heard his trainer loud and clear. Johnson plans to make an even louder statement Saturday night by upsetting Beterbiev in their 12-round fight for the Russian knockout artist's IBF 175-pound championship.

makes no sense to bring up andrea ward since kovalev made him bend the knee and whooped him in the first fight the bully did good there the second one was a very controversial stoppage. maybe johnson is planning on assualting beterbievs balls. beterbiev is going to crush him in one.

Johnson seems a bit too much of a humble nice guy in interviews. Maybe it's meaningless, he always fights with confidence and aggression, but it just feels like his mentality is more 'I can win this' rather than 'I will win this'. Most interesting fight on the card though just because both can ****. It reminds me of when Stevenson fought Thomas Williams, the result was predictable but at least you knew the underdog would bring firepower and throw bombs early.

Difference is beterbiev has beat kovalev twice already. Ward wanted no part of beterbiev

Beterbiev is a maniac going on a rampage... too many frustrations. If Johnson lasts 6 rounds, it will be a sort of victory...

Why do you think CoWard retired?

Beterbiev was always the bigger talent out of the two

Are you guys serious? When ward moved up after ggg ducked him, he signed a 3 fight deal with HBO to move up in weight to fight Kovalev who was p4p #2 or 3 and just killed someone in the ring, knocking everyone out with jabs! Ward won the super 6 against all top 168 at their prime. You guys have some revisionist history here. I like beterbiev but he wasnt holding any belts but ward still beats him. Ward is Atg in my book with the resume. It was kov and Stevenson and Stevenson cannot fight in the US because he can't get a visa.

I can't wait for beterbiev to fight someone good. Sad that ward cleaned out lhw except Stevenson who is 40+! Just like he cleaned out 168. And ward murdered kov the 2nd fight. The 1st I had a draw. Nothing controversial about the 2nd fight! Please tell me how kov didn't break down and give up the 2nd fight?
