Do you realize Pedvetkin has literally never knocked out a fighter ranked as low as Bryant Jennings, Stiverne, or Ortiz?

Jennings was ranked in the top 4 and as low as #2 when he took Klitschko to a 12 round decision and scores of 116-111 on 2 judges cards.

Stiverne & Ortiz were ranked in the top 4 when Wilder beat them too.

The lowest ranked fighter Pedvetkin has fought recently was Takam 4 years ago and he was ranked like 10th lol.


Huck wasn't better than Cunningham who already stopped him, wasn't better than Adamek who beat Cunningham, wasn't better than Jones, or Glowacki who would later stop him as well. Huck got a gift decision to Ramirez, Olafabi, and Arslan.
The guy was the paper champion of cruiser and he took Pedvetkin to his limit, 0 wins over a HW btw.

Yes, he was! He's ALWAYS been fat, even from his professional boxing debut bout.

He's been carrying over 20 pounds of unnecessary / extra body fat / weight for years, which if he dropped, would've allowed him to make the cruiser weight or probably even the light heavyweight division.

Even Oleksandr Usyk is physically bigger in size than Alexander Povetkin. That should tell you all you need to know about how small a 'heavyweight' Povetkin is, when even a cruiser weight is bigger than him.

If Usyk carried anywhere near the amount of fat that Povetkin carries, he'd easily weigh 230+ pounds himself.

All of that is academic, because Povetkin is still arguably better than Luis Ortiz. Despite his shortcomings in size.

What has to be taken into consideration, is that the current heavyweight division is a lot different from the past heavyweight divisions, including the past amateur heavyweight divisions.

The heavyweights today are MUCH bigger in size (weight, height and reach) on average than they were in the past. If you look at Povetkin, you'll find he's the smallest heavyweight today out of the other current top 10 heavyweights. His combination of height, weight and reach is smaller than that of any other top 10 heavyweight today.

And then you look at today's cruiser weights. Most of them are as big as Povetkin in terms of size. And some are even bigger.

These factors convinces me that Povetkin is much better off competing at cruiser weight, than at heavyweight TODAY. Especially considering he is smaller than all other top 10 heavyweight members and that most guys in the cruiser weight division are around his own size. He can get better competitive match ups in the cruiser weight division than at heavyweight against elite heavyweights like Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury or Wladimir Klitshcko.

I'm not claiming Povetkin can't beat good heavyweights. But my point is, at the elite / highest level, his lack of size will always be his downfall. Just like how Golovkin could beat some lower level light heavyweights like Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, Alexander Brand and etc. But his lack of size will pretty much always be his downfall at the highest level against elite light heavyweights like Sergey Kovalev, Artur Beterbiev, Oleksandr Gvozdyk and etc.
