Comments Thread For: Joshua Ordered By WBO To Make Mandatory After Povetkin

The WBO hasn't appointed a mandatory challenger for its heavyweight title. That hasn't stopped the sanctioning organization from informing Anthony Joshua that he'll have to make a mandatory defense of that championship within 180 days of his September 22 fight against Alexander Povetkin, assuming the heavily favored Joshua wins that bout at London's Wembley Stadium. Sky Sports reported Thursday that the WBO hasn't determined whether it'll first order an elimination match to establish the mandatory challenger for Joshua's title.

**** them, ridiculous ****. Why not just make Povetkin the mandatory and do it now, instead of saying the winner has to fight a guy in 6 months you haven't even named yet. I'm starting to get to be like Eff Pandas and saying **** all these orgs, let them burn in hell

He's fighting the WBO #1 povetkin next come on , it doesn't really make much difference in this case but that is just ******. I guess if they order Whyte vs Miller that no opponent for APril assuming Fury or Wilder ducks .... Ortiz or Pulev is up ?

That fits nicely into Hearn's plan for AJ v Dillian Whyte in April, which he's said is the fight if it's not Wilder, which it won't be.

Whyte is ranked number 2 right now behind Povetkin. With Hearn's influence, they will just bump Whyte up to no.1 after AJ beats Povetkin. Then Hearn has his fight and justifying it by saying it's a mandatory.

That's why they already planted the seed saying about not being sure about making a final eliminator, because they already know Whyte is going to have that fight. In terms of dates, Hearn will just get an extension if needs be.
