Comments Thread For: Loeffler: Golovkin is 1 Win Away From Breaking Hopkins Record

Tom Loeffler, promoter for IBO, WBC, WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs), sees legacy at stake for both boxers when GGG steps in the ring to defend his titles against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

These dudes will say anything. Trip was stripped for facing Vanes and not Dervy. Period.

I'm sorry, I like GGG as a fighter and all, but Loeffler is full of ***** in this article. Mainly at GGG being mad at Canelo for the May 5th fight being cancelled, and seeing that as the reason he was stripped of the IBF belt. I call b.s. on that, if GGG and his team really cared about keeping that IBF strap, they could've simply fought the mandatory challenger in Devrychenko, who was even on the record as being willing to step in on short notice. Instead, they chose to cherry pick Martirosyan, a guy who'd never even SEEN MW and who's best moment was getting a draw against Lara at 154.

        nope

the record reverts to 0 when you duck your mando

also, the WBA junior title..... really ?

ducking mando's and defending junior titles is not exactly how Hopkins did his thing

The only way Hopkins put people to sleep was when he fought and I mean the crown not the fighters. He was booded in most of his fights. So STFU and don't compare. Its makes sense that u suck him so hard and now say canelo is great for running as good as B-hop. Ur pathetic dude.

Not sure if the numbers add up and not the biggest Golovkin fan but this is quite an accomplishment if true

Jacobs, N'dam, Murata are all considered champs for holding the regular WBA while Golovkin was the super. N'Dam & Murata both have had a few threads lately & not one person has said otherwise.

Trout was WBA regular while Cotto & FMJ were Super champs. Btw that was the title that Canelo won & was considered a UNIFCATION but was immediately elevated to Super for his fight with FMJ. Do we consider Andrade a former champ? Was regular while Lara was Super.

What about Inoue & McDonnell? Burnett is the Super Champ.

Etc, etc...this crap only comes up when some want to discredit or fit something to their agenda. Good luck trying to re-write the record books for all the WBA regular title holders.

The exact title that B-Hop won from Tito who the Super title was originally created for!

                  1) go wash your mouth out kid..... firstly, for criticizing the GREAT Bernard Hopkins..... secondly, for comparing him to Hypekin

                  2) I never compared Canelo to Hopkins, you must be referring to somebody else

                  3) why would I EVER listen to - or respect - somebody who referred to the sweet science as "running"

                    nah, they don't add up

this is why Bullshhtkin avoided his mando to fight Vanes

not referring to you, but anybody who supports this is extremely special..... and not in a good way
