    Referee Saves Adonis Stevenson

Last night during Jack/ Adonis I notice the ref was quick to break up the action everytime Jack got on the inside he also broke the fight up several times when Badou had Adonis kn the ropes. Not to mention the excessive holding from Adonis in rounds 7, 8, and 9. Did the referee play a part in Adonis not being stopped? If the roles were reversed and Adonis was promoted by Floyd would y’all say Floyd payed off the ref?

If Jack was able to work the body without interruption he may have stopped Adonis. Also how do some of you guys just automatically give Adonis round 1 and 4 when Jack outlanded him in both rounds and their wasn’t much action?

The ref was biased but I don't know how much of a difference it made.

Honestly, Jack was ineffective on the inside. He was leaning on Stevenson without getting much actual work done. I'm not surprised the ref got tired of it, though I do think he should have warned one or the other rather than just breaking it up as soon as they came together.

Last night just illustrated how average Jack is. He had so many chances and just threw them away. Chances to take early rounds, chances to work the body, chances to work when he got inside but he just leaned on him instead so the ref broke it up. He didn't take advantage of any of it. I'm no fan of guys who blow opportunities, then cry about it.

I respect your opinion and pretty good analysis. I thought Jack landed the harder cleaner punches. I don’t think he’s average I think he is very under rated. The plan was to take Adonis deep in the late rounds and it almost worked. Neither fighter did anything in the early rounds and as mentioned in the op Jack outlanded Adonis in the 1st and 4th. You can’t just go in and brawl with a guy like Adonis you have to take some time to find your range, angles etc. He just moved up in weight and fought the lineal champ that has been brutally ko fighters. I’d say that’s far from average

1 hand free he would break them up

That ref is known to be highly incompetent

How he gets chosen to be ref for such a big fight shows how ineptly the sport is run

The second half of the fight was Stevenson clinching almost the whole time and not one warning. No wonder Jack socked him late on.

I'd pick Jack in a rematch because he proved he can swerve Stevenson's power and take him into deep water. Jack just needs to work on implementing effective power and I think he can do that. This first fight had a lot of missed opportunities that I believe he can correct next time out.

So he has a history of this? He may not have been directly helping Adonis but he sure did stop the flow of the fight several times

Well said. I’m just ready for Adonis to stop holding that belt hostage lol. Then hopefully we can see some of the top guys like Bivol, Gvozdyk, Beterbiev Kovalev, Browne, Jack face each other. Who’d you pick if all 6 of them entered a light heavyweight tournament? I’d pick Beterbiev to walk through them all.
