Comments Thread For: Golovkin Promoter on Canelo Talks, Derevyanchenko Situation

It's been about two weeks since unified middleweight unified champion, Gennady Golovkin, blasted out Vanes Martirosyan out in two rounds. Originally, Golovkin was scheduled to face Saul Alvarez on May 5th until the Mexican star tested positive for clenbuterol and was suspended six months by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Of that situation, Loeffler says - "We're flying to New Jersey for the appeal hearing. So they approved our request to fight Vanes as an unsanctioned bout which isn't unusual for a unified champion but the conditions that were imposed on that appeal go against some of their rules so we're looking to have some clarification of what those conditions are.

"Really it shouldn't have even come into play because under the circumstances - that were outside of Gennady's control - it was the WBC's turn. Derevyanchenko wasn't up to fighting May 5. So it wasn't really putting him back. If the IBF wants to now impose their mandatory, that's really where this starts and I can sit down and negotiate with Lou (DiBella) and see what their position is."
That's not what he said before the fight. Before the fight he said GGG wouldn't fight Derevyanchenko for the same amount of money he fought Vanes.

So now he is saying Dervy didn’t want to fight on that date? I swear Dervy said he would replace Canelo for May 5th.

he should fight dereveynechenko next. the forum seem to rate him very highly and have been demanding that fight recently saying he was a legit threat who ggg was avoiding, so thats the fight that has to happen next to please people.

both statements can be true at the same time, it isn't like what he is saying now contradicts what he said before.

But there was no issue with Dervy taking the fight before. He said the issue was the money for GGG. The issue wasn't on Dervy's side. Remember, they're the ones who pushed for the fight. They wanted it

Don't waste your time on MC when he's on GGG hate mode.
