He's lucky the ref didn't stop it. Look at Maidana bending down just like Linares did. He clearly didn't want anymore and was lucky the ref let it continue and he was saved by the bell. He bent down just like Linares so he must've been trying to quit.

Doesn't matter, he got up quick, ref asked him if he was OK, he nodded and replied verbally. He held his hands up indicating he could defend himself.
That is what the ref needs to allow the fight to continue.
Linares did not do these things. He may have wanted to continue but didn't show enough, because of the pain he was in.
Maidana was badly that is some crazy courage to get up from that.
