Comments Thread For: Jacobs-Sulecki Peaked at 874K Viewers, Averaged 811K on HBO

Daniel Jacobs' unremarkable performance in his previous appearance didn't deter boxing fans from tuning in to his fight against Maciej Sulecki on Saturday night. Ratings revealed Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research indicated Jacobs-Sulecki drew a peak audience of 874,000 for HBO. Their entertaining 12-round middleweight match maintained an average of 811,000 viewers.

not really. The rematch did about the same as this Jacobs card. The first fight did good ratings.

Broner has proven he can draw almost 800K viewers no matter who you put him in with. Did it last year against a journeyman Granados. And 2 weeks ago the entire broadcast did only 400-500 viewers then spiked up to 800K viewer just to see him in the main event. You don't give Wilder a good opponent or big names on his undercard his ratings are less then Broners. He might be a train wreck but he is the most consistent and high ratings generator for Showtime right now.
Wilder does 1 million plus on average. The Spzika fight was an anomoly not the rule as demonstrated by the link below. Wilder is the #1 viewed fighter in the states right now

Broner is one of the top draws in boxing. He's up there. He could do a ppv right now against Pacquiao. He would need to move up again to get the money fights but he gets paid decent.

He should take the pay cut and go to England and fight Saunders.

That’s pretty good considering Showtime had a significantly smaller subscriber base.

I read an interview last week where Espinoza said he could’ve made Wilder-Ortiz a PPV. No question, the Wilder and Broner draw significant ratings.

Nice views, but 7K at the gate? For 2 guys from Brooklyn? That SUCKS!

That was before the Golden Boy breakup and before PBC. You have to look at showtime ratings pre and post PBC. that was a different era for Showtime when they were drawing neck and neck with HBO with cards routinely drawing 1 mil or close.

Post Golden Boy breakup/PBC Showtime draws in the 500K range. The Szpilka fight is closer to his real drawing power. Stiverne 2 had a loaded undercard with Shawn Porter and still only drew 800K viewers. Broner did basically the same thing with a shyt undercard in Ohio against a journyman Granados that no casual fans as heard of. Again we can call Broner a phuk up and train wreck but his numbers speak for themselves regardless of the opponent he is Showtimes best and most consistent draw.
Had nothing to do with Golden Boy. Showtime was letting people watch for free.

I know, I was one of those viewers.(Now I have the app so I'm not counted in viewership numbers. Actually none of my close friends are b/c we all pay for their app lol)

Look at the ratings the week prior. You had a great lead in with Broner and still fans didn't care about the rest of the fights 500K or lower.

                      Broner/Vargas 782K
                      Charlo/Centeno- 518K
                      Davis/Cuellar 460K
Showtime has less subscribers than HBO. HBO should constantly being doing bigger numbers than Showtime. Showtime's viewing numbers have also dropped a bit due to the fact that they stream fights on their Showtime app. I've been watching Showtime fights for the past 2 years on their app via Amazon Prime. Nielsen ratings don't count those and I'm sure there's a lot of people who watch via the app. Nieseln ratings are obsolete now for Showtime, HBO keeps those ratings in mind because they don't offer live streaming of their fights through their HBO apps. Only way you u could live stream their live fights for example, is if you use the Direct TV app and are subscribed to HBO.
