Comments Thread For: Bernstein: Mikey Garcia vs. Lomachenko Can Become Special Fight

Showtime Sports' expert analyst Al Bernstein, is a very big fan of the potential matchup between world champions Vasyl Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KOs) and Mikey Garcia (37-0, 30 KOs). Last week, Lomachenko retained his WBO super featherweight title with a one-sided stoppage of Guillermo Rigondeaux in six rounds.

Not really. Neither guy is a star. Its a cult classic for the fans. If Loma grows some balls and fights a bigger guy for a challenge it will happen. If not then I guess he will just be content to continue allowing his opponents to make all the sacrifices and take all the risks. When has he fought a bigger guy?? He's not moving up for Mikey. He will never fight Mikey. Dude is scared shitless of Mikey Garcia.

Loma just drew over 2 million viewers for the Rigo fight

I bet you'd say that Crawford fought a bigger guy, but Loma didn't, right?

He has won titles in 2 weight classes which means he had balls enough to move up and fight the champions. I guarantee you if he moves up and schools Garcia, people will say that Garcia is really a junior welterweight who struggled to make the 135 pound limit. Peace.

I am concerned about that last part. I'm not a fan of weight jumping, especially when one moves down a class because the results could be disastrous. Of course there are a number of fighters who have done it successfully but there's no way to tell how the fighter's body will react to the weight loss until he does it.

I don't particularly care for guys moving down either, especially after I watched Ward vs Dawson or De La Hoya vs Pacquiao. I would much prefer Garcia's next fight be at 135 lbs but, it is what it is. Peace.

Funny that Mikey is back to dealing with Bobfather.
When he was expected to deal with Haymon more.
Considering there are still huge PBC names available for Mikey.
I guess Broner is the only one who stepped up.
Biggest jokes in boxing. PBC fighters.
