This gets De-Gale a tune up fight and Lee Selby known to BT sport customers before a mandatory against another FW fighter, Warrington, at Leeds football ground next year.

I wouldn't expect big fights in this, a tune-up and exposure for Selby, nothing more. I hope Selby fights someone decent mind you.

And you have Dubois and Yarde on there I suppose, and it's not PPV, can't complain.

              He was.

Actually Hearn doesn't have contracts with a lot of his fighters, he said that himself. He works on a fight by fight basis with a lot of his fighters rather than them being tied down. I know that's how he works with Bellew and it was the same with DeGale too.

Hearn is on record saying thats how he worked with DeGale, and felt that DeGale was making a mistake fighting in USA all the time instead of building his name in the UK fighting on the big events. But Hearn said there was nothing he could do about it because he works fight by fight with him.

I think it's a good move for DeGale though. Hearn just hasn't been getting him any worthwhile fights to make it worth fighting in UK.

He can't be happy about it there's some big domestic fights out there for DeGale vs Groves, Eubank etc. Hearn would love to put those sort of fights on Sky PPV.
He's done an interview with IFL I think, I'm gonna watch it later. He'll probably act like he's not too bothered to try and save face.

Agreed good move for DeGale. Hearn failed to capitalise on DeGales momentum after winning the IBF title. He failed to secure him any major fights in the U.K. Dirrell and Bute have fought on these shores before so there was no reason Hearn couldn't have made those fights over here. I get the feeling he wasn't willing to put his money where his mouth was and invest in DeGale.

I felt that too. Also, a few years ago, DeGale wasn't all that liked by the public. People couldn't warm to him at all as a person, he used to come across as arrogant a ****y and not even in a funny way. It's only as he got a bit older that he has come across like he isn't as bad as people thought.

I think Hearn or Sky were aware of that and felt it was going to be difficult to make him into a fighter with real crossover appeal, so that's maybe part of the reason they weren't putting up the money to get his opponents to come to the UK. It's not even like he or his opponents were getting great money in USA. Hearn and Sky could have easily paid more if they wanted. For whatever reason, they have never shown willingness to invest in DeGale, and i don't think it's anything to do with his ability.

Exactly. I'm not a fan of DeGale because of his attitude and I also think he's overrated skills wise. But that doesn't change the fact he is a marketable fighter, with a solid fan base, who's also a current world title holder. I remember him getting a really good reception at the O2 not long after the Dirrell win. That would've been the ideal time to put him in a big UK fight, but Hearn/Sky for whatever reason didn't invest in him.

There are a lot of holes in Warren's promotional structure but one thing he always does is back his fighters. He's always been willing to spend for home advantage and I think that will serve DeGale's career well
