Comments Thread For: Naoya Inoue Not Likely To Appear on Next Superfly Card

Japan's Naoya Inoue (14-0, 12 KOs), who is already regarded as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, has requested not to be involved in the upcoming Superfly 2 card, which is being targeted for the first quarter on 2018 - because he wants to make another defense in Japan before returning to the United States.

Damn so they brought Monster over to fight a bs fight & now he's out? Shoulda matched him tougher when he was over here the first time.

Disappointing. Bring him over to introduce the guy to N. American boxing fans and then squander that exposure by taking a tune up on New Year's Eve in Japan? Hopefully my assumption is wrong about the homecoming fight.

Not likely to be a tuneup.

Welcome to the most overrated flyweight on the planet. This guy has had ONE name win and that was years ago against a washed up Omar Narvaez and has fought low level fighters since and then for his american debut he fought an even lower level fighter and now is avoiding coming back to america and declines superfly 2 to fight some lower level fighter in Japan????

This is a bad move and makes no sense.
Inoue will not be a star in the US if he goes on like this.

This New Year's Eve thing is such a big deal in Japan.
It's like every boxer or MMA fighter must be involved in some kind of an event that day.
The result is too many events/fights happening at the same time and nobody really pays attention to any.
People at home will zap the channels and watch fights between comedy shows.
It may not be a tune up but it's a waste of talent like Inoue.
He should be fighting in the states and fighting guys like Cuadras.
He just got world's attention in the Superfly 1. Why opt out now?
            It's ****** if they do.

HBO has fallen a long way. It used to be an honor to appear on HBO. Now guys are turning them down.

Khalid Yafai is a excellent substitute to add to Sor Rungvisai vs. Juan Fransico Estrada ; Eddie Hearn has begun promoting in the states and by participating in 'Superfly II.' he steps in the premier stage for the elite @ 115 -- who the opponent is that deserves a shot is the problem....Cuadras is a great challenge but he could derail a showdown with Roman Gonzalez which wouldn't be so bad considering they were suppose to fight in a rematch.

Jonas Sultan just won a mando vs. Johnriel Casimero for Jerwin Ancajas IBF title but then you just had Rau'Shee Warren beat Arroyo in a eliminator for the same IBF so anyone one of those two vs. the winner of Ancajas vs. Conlan would be dope.

inoue doesnt need to fight in America to make it big. America doesnt have a market for Small fighters anyways.

as much as i want to see inoue fight in america, truth is he doesnt need to fight here. He gets more recognition and makes more money in Japan, why da *** would he go out of the way to fight here.. as a japanese SFW fighter, he doesnt need to.
