Eddie Hearn & Matchroom coming to HBO?

HBO is showing Linares vs Campbell. I know Linares is co-promoted by Golden Boy but his last fight was on Showtime & his fight before that wasnt on HBO either.
And HBO picked up the Ryan Burnett vs. Zhanat Zhakiyanov on tape delay. Thats a random fight for them to pick up. With the void left by Top Rank, HBO needs another promoter with a deep roster.

Unless they offer him something solid for the long term, he's better off picking and choosing what US network he wants

His bigger fighters, like Joshua, will have separate arrangements anyway.

His biggest revenue will always be from the U.K. He can play the American broadcasters/promoters as he likes knowing he is set anyway

      I sure hope so.

Eddie Hearn is the best promoter in boxing right now.
      Hands down, no contest.

Dont understand why Wembley was booing him.

hbo has no choice but to pick up bs fights.

          golden boy has no roster
          top rank is gone
          haymon been gone.
          roc nation has no roster
          Kathy duva has no roster

2018 may be hbo last year in boxing the way they keep shrinking the budget.

golovkin vs canelo is all they have to offer

Interesting. I'm definitely in the camp saying he's the best promoter in the game. I'd be curious to see what he can do in the US market. Won't be surprising if he finds some growing pains there cuz its hardly similar from what I can see from afar.

He's going to set up Matchroom Boxing promotions in the U.S. I think in New York. Trying to recall what I heard previously.

But yeah, that's cool for Eddie to expand. Hopefully more fights from British fighters are shown here in the U.S., I'm all for it.

Who knows. He's probably best just remaining a free agent. Or joining forces with Haymon..

Here's an interview where he explains more. It seems like he has a legitimate deal, according to Hearn he has an option for 4-5 fights in the US next year.

Anthony Joshua is already signed to Showtime, and if Campbell beats Linares, he's likely to fight Mikey Garcia on Showtime as well. To that, Katie Taylor has also been talked up and shown on Showtime (and let's not forget James Degale and Kell Brook, among others). HBO picking up the Ryan Burnett fight is odd (they don't feature any fighters at bantamweight anyway), but I doubt that HBO is willing to commit anywhere near what Matchroom Sport is getting via the Joshua signing and a seemingly handshake agreement from Showtime.

Eddie Hearn's first priority is to Sky Sports in the UK, full stop. He's not going to jeopardize that over the chance that maybe HBO commits money back to boxing.
