Which fighter was able to have it their way in the ring?
Was that the fight GGG wanted to have, or was it the fight Canelo wanted to have?
Who was able to dictate the range and impose their strategy better?
Golovkin wanted to be right in front of Canelo and trade punches, but he couldn't force that to happen. The times he did stand in front of Canelo, or have him trapped on the ropes, were only possible because Canelo willing stood there calling him in. Even then, Golovkin was reluctant to impose himself as expected. Canelo showed a multitude of skills. Golovkin was very determined & workmanlike, but he did one thing all night, he was not particularly effective, and he could not make any adjustments.
