Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez Anxious to Silence Critics, Golovkin & His Team

LAS VEGAS The conviction in Canelo Alvarez's voice Tuesday was an indication of how much motivation he has drawn from the naysayers. The two-division champion from Mexico has used their doubts as fuel for his preparation for the second-biggest fight of his 12-year pro career. He plans to prove millions of boxing fans wrong Saturday night by upsetting Gennady Golovkin in their 12-round fight for Golovkin's IBF, IBO, WBA and WBC middleweight titles at T-Mobile Arena.

            When Canelo says:

“This is a true 50-50 fight,” Alvarez said. “So I’m risking it, but so is he. All I have to do on my side is to prepare myself to give the fans a great fight and do what I always do. … It’s gonna be a great fight.”

He's simply putting all the BS aside and calling it exactly how it is. Golovkin would say the exact same thing if asked to put the promotional BS aside for a moment.

Can't see how this won't end up a good fight.

How will he get close enough when GGG is feeding him jabs like a baby being spoon fed.. Canelo might as well put on a bib, hes gonna eat that jab, GGG will make airplane noises while feeding him the jab.

This remains the key question. Canelo needs to get past the jab, having a history of not being the best at it (Mayweather, Trout, Lara). If he does, he wins, if he doesn't, could be a difficult fight for him.

He was still developing in previous fights and will know this is the key, and will have trained for it. At 27 he's going to be better than he's ever been before, and we'll only know fight-night if he can get past the jab with enough regularity to be able to dictate how the fight goes.
