So why is Lomachenko/Rigondeaux happening at 130?

Roberto Duran moved up in weight to fight Sugar Ray Leonard - and won.

And later moved up again to middleweight and beat Iran Barkley!

Manny Pacquiao started at minimumweight - much smaller than Rigo ever was at as a pro - and won titles all the way up to welterweight!!!

Rigo's move up is nothing compared to Manny Pacquaio's.

Utterly pointless fight at 130, it's a foregone conclusion

The reason is Rigo passed up the opportunity in 2015 and walked. Lom moved up and here we are.

Loma is the b-side also. There is no A side in this one.

I believe part of it has to do with the public shhh talking Rigo did and the fact he passed up on an offer before he started talking shh. In this new reality they aren't willing to play ball with him. This could've been handled better and if Rocnation had been doing their job this fight would've been at a catchweight with the same money. Instead they let the fighter take away leverage from the equation and end up with a take it or leave it situation. Very bad look but just a continuation of the work Caribe has already done for Rigo's stalled career now continued by a promoter looking for a way out.
