The key to Canelo/GGG will be the pace.

Whoever can dictate the pace will be the victor IMO.

Canelo will obviously want a slower and more controlled pace where he has Golovkin thinking too much. This way he can pick his shots, counter punch, and land the smoother combinations. He's going to need to get Golovkins respect early on (think body shots) and maintain a controlled pace in route to a UD.

GGG on the other hand, will have to establish a more frentic and high volume pace to shell up Canelo and attempt to drown him out. I'm expecting a lot of jabs and throw away punches to set up the bigger stuff in a high volume assault.

Who do you think controls the pace better?

weve seen golovkin up the pace against brook when needed. im not buying it that canelo is that much better than brook, brook lost to spence sure, but spence would probably beat canelo at 154 too. brook v canelo at 154 would be competitive. golovkin can bully canelo at a high tempo just like he did brook.

The thing is that like in any boxing fight, the pace is always dictated by the one who dominates the fight.

And since we have never seen these 2 boxers fight each other before, we can only speculate...

You are basically asking, who do you think is going to dominate the fight ?

        To that, I don't know.

I used to think Canelo would win but the more I think about it, the more I see a very close fight where it could go either way.

I can see Golovkin winning the fight at both a slow pace or a fast pace. Canelo can only win the fight at a slow pace.

How fast would Brook destroy Smith?

I don't see Triple G working at a fast pace. He will have respect for Canelo speed and power so he will box behind his jab at a distance. He will play the matador to Canelos bull

Not sure about that. From what I've seen, when punches are flying at GGG he tends to shell up and try to pick them off rather than counter a lot. If Canelo pushed the action he could have GGG stalling offensively. I think GGG sets the pace though with the ramrod jab and walks Canelo down all night and uses a body attack to break him eventually. Canelo is going to land some big shots himself though as GGG comes in. If GGG can take those punches easily then Canelo is toast. The Canelo bodywork will decide if he's in this fight going into the later rounds. He's gotta slow GGG down from walking in

Agreed. To me Golovkin does not look comfortable in exchanges. Jacobs had quicker hands and so will Canelo

The amateur pedigree Golovkin has and underrated boxing skills will be his weapon here. I still see Triple G doing enough to " deserve" a decision.
