Comments Thread For: Saturday Night Monster Movies

By Cliff Rold - In a little more than a week, a monster is coming. To be more accurate, "The Monster" arrives in the US for the first time. A favorite of hardcore fight fans in the west since early in his career, no one has to wonder how and when they'll see his latest. 24-year old WBO 115 lb. titlist Naoya Inoue (13-0, 11 KO) will be live on HBO on September 09...

I have to tape these guys and run slomo later to see the details. Inoue in America is a treat, but he could be here to lure a more deserving challenger back to Japan. Hopefully he does well and more than just one fight.

Naoya Inoue is no 'Monster' hes 24 years old and hasn't even fought an elite primed champion, hes no Fighting Harada who was only 19 when he fought the great Pone Kingpetch for the lineal flyweight title back to back in under four months in the 60's.

I mean Canelo Alvarez is more of 'Monster' if you think about it : already fought TBE and defending the lineal title vs. #1. undefeated middle weight champion with almost 50 fights just three years older.

But great info in the article, I appreciate the nod to these LEGENDS. Step your game up Inoue! Gonzalez been fighting the best in your own division and you havent even fought one! props to Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez for all the hard work he put in the sport that now is giving young talent like Inoue some shine. Lets keep it going, respect to HBO for bringing up the best division in boxing in HD.

Card is great but since winning the title Inoue babied fighting bum on the card while cuadras and Choco fight champs and former champs.

Inoue is the co-main for his debut in the states. It should be a good showcase sandwiched between two possible classics.
