    Thanks,

I think 64kg is the most competitive division, followed by 49kg. The 52 and 56kg don't seem strong at all.

64 is my favourite division in this tournament. I think anybody can lose against anybody pretty much if all is fair with the judges. Too many good names.

At a glance looks like it will be tough for England

So the whole thing will be streamed on AIBA's Facebook page and the BBC will show the quarter-finals onwards via their website and Red Button service

De Los Santos vs Walker (Session 1B), Yafai vs Ahmed (2A) and Ibanez vs Ragan (2B) jump out at me as bouts worth watching today. Any others?

Did you watch the first session?

Nope, just realised that the stream on Olympic Channel is not available in the UK, presumably because the BBC owns the rights to the tournament, but the BBC doesn't start showing it until the quarters, so I can only watch it from that point

            Any notable performances?

Yeah it was the same with the European Championships but I only just remembered. I wish BoxNation would just pick up these amateur tournaments and show the whole thing. It's not as if they have much else in their schedule

                  That's is very unfortunate.
Unfortunately I missed the first session and I haven't heard much. I didn't realize it was going to be streamed on the Olympic Channel, so I don't think there is anyway to replay the ealier sessions.

Apparently de los Santos almost KO'd Kurt Walker in the first round, but Walker fought hard in the last two and lost via split decision (4-1). Walker only lost via split decision against Akhmadaliev and McGrail as well. So he is good and no shame in losing to de los Santos who could end up winning the whole tournament IMO.
But I haven't heard much other than that.

Currently watching the evening session. Specifically the Yafai fight.

OK, so four judges scored it wide for de los Santos.
And one judge scored it a close fight for Walker.
De los Santos dropped Walker and it was apparently a hard KD.

I think de los Santos can win this tournament. He should fight Peter McGrail in the Quarterfinals. That one should be interesting.

Just got done watching the Javier Ibanez vs Duke Ragan fight.
It was a super close fight! Their fight at the qualifiers was also super close.
I felt that Ibanez edged out their qualifier fight and he got the decision.
But I felt Ragan just edged out their fight here at the World Championships and he got the decision.

In both fights Ibanez closed out the fight better. Difference is that Ragan started getting tired in round 2 of their first fight and he didn't start feeling pace until round 3 in this fight.
I scored the first two for Ragan and the last for Ibanez.
