Comments Thread For: Crawford Noncommittal on Facing Lipinets, Unsure of Garcia

Top Rank executives and matchmakers have repeatedly stated that Terence Crawford has never turned down an opponent. Whether we'll see him eventually make a title defense against Sergey Lipinets remains unclear, though. First, obviously, Crawford must defeat unbeaten Julius Indongo in their 140-pound title unification fight Saturday night in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Again, how does a guy with only 12 fights become a mandatory? Can't really blame him if he isn't too stoked to fight Lipinets. No one even knows who he is? He would have to make that fight in Nebraska if they expect to sell tickets.

Whoever this Lippy guy is, there ain't no way in hell he's getting a shot at all the marbles after Crawford becomes undisputed. The belts will fragment straight away once he starts dumping them. Different mandatories for every one, right?

He's more likely to keep the WBA and WBC, and maybe WBO unless they push a worthless mandatory as well. Historically, it seems to always be hardest to keep the IBF unified.

I'm never a fan of reporters asking fighters about future fights while they have one lined up. It's dumb, he should be focused on Indongo

Translation: please keep him away from my favourite fighter in/around his weight class

If he beats Indongo, I hope he moves up to 147. There will be nothing left for him to prove at 140

I think Crawford would beat Mikey Garcia. Don't know the other guy.
