They are NOT the same: Mcgregor's personality is quality, Mayweather's is trash

They are very similar people. McGregor definitely has a crisper mouth piece than Floyd but he isn't all that articulate either if you really listen to him. He has a funny Irish accent which people find charming and that helps.

Both guys have made their fame and fortune out of trash talking their opponents and having outlandish public personas.

I do think there is a racial element as to why McGregor is more liked than Floyd but it is definitely more complex than that. Floyd's personal issues outside of the ring have hurt his reputation in the public. Conor doesn't have that kind of baggage. There are plenty of people who have met Conor who said he's a pretty big scumbag himself but the media hasn't covered Conor as extensively as they have covered Floyd so Conor still has a relatively clean image in the publics view.

Ali was a major **** and got more personal than conor or mayweather and really tried to get in guys heads. Look at how he did Fraizer and Foreman.

Theyve done a good job marketing Ali as a nice guy from the 90s onward because his name is worth so much money. He could be a major **** though.

I agree, but he did it a way that kind of took the edge off it.

I know Fraizer took some of the things he said very personal.

The general public had a major issue with Ali because they weren't use to that kind of braggadocio from an athlete let alone an African American but after his illness the dislike for him faded quite a bit.

Like I said, neither McGregor or Mayweather are close to the personality that Ali had.

When Mayweather puts away the Money act he seems like a pretty cool dude actually, his interviews are a lot better in the post fight press conference.

I watched some 8 minutes highlight reel video of McGregor talking **** at pressers, he and Floyd both come across as absolute cringe with their "personas" to build fights.

If you really watch lots of Ali interviews, 95% of the time he sounds like an absolute insane person. We remember the highlight reel interviews all the, "watch how fast I punch, did you see it?" and "Float like a butterfly" moments. Most of the time he sounded like a homeless person on the corner shouting random nonsense.

really not teh case. young ali / clay was ultra handsome and actually had some really good one liners. he was also much more political [controlled and manipulated into it for the most part, but he was critical of government and institutionalized policy and came up smack dab in the middle of civil rights and two eras of race relations in america.]

he had a bit more to say than floyd talking about guys being strong champions, and a hell of a competitor.
