I'm somewhat surprised to how similar both of their approaches are towards the opponent to create the angles where the fighters cannot defend from their attacks.

Good breakdown. Lomachenko uses the pacquiao style side step very often, you dont see many fighters use this, pacquiao doesn't move like thst anymore because his legs are gone but it was his signature strength was his footwork.

Not even close, IMO. Pacquiao has amazing legs but not the best feet. They both use them athletically, however Loma remains grounded while punching whereas Pacquiao often times leaves the canvas while punching. He also puts himself in peculiar positioning, often times spinning himself into a corner or allowing his opponent an escape route by stepping places he shouldn't. Those are uneducated movements. He has good feet, but not smart feet.

Loma keeps his feet in the right places at the right times. He controls the majority of the ring, maintains the majority of the ring behind him and puts himself in advantageous positions at all times instead of the other way around. Pac has good legs, but never been a fan of his "feet". Huge difference.

This is not talking about the fighting style. But rather Pacquiao and Lomachenko's approach on fighting at the center and using the lead foot. It's basically a mirror image. Lomachenko keeps himself grounded for balance, because he doesn't have the same athleticism of Pacquiao. Pacquiao often leaps and bounces ahead for more forward momentum, and he had been using that as an escape mechanism throughout his career, but overall their approach is similar, to how they rotate to their side to deliver left cross and hooks.

Overall Lomachenko is more technical and Pacquiao is more unorthodox.

Lomachenko is much more fundamentally sound. He dosen't leave his chin out in the air when he does a side step unlike manny who has holes in his defense.

100% agree. His footwork is technically superior, especially on defense. It's a real pleasure to watch.
