Comments Thread For: Canelo Admits He is "Obsessed" With Giving GGG His First Loss

Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) is a few short months away from challenging WBA, WBC, IBO, IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) on September 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The HBO Pay-Per-View fight has been discussed for at least two years and many felt it would never happen.

Uh Oh, the last time someone talked about being "Obsessed" with winning titles it didn't end well.

I wrote this elsewhere but this is how I see it:

Whether you like Golovkin or not, whether you believe the myth or not, the first person to take him out, to beat him, has bragging rights. And if Canelo thought this guy might be slipping, he wants to get in there before someone else takes it. It's very simple a Canelo victory over Golokin, if he is the one who dethrones him, makes him the man. There is nothing else he can do in the foreseeable future that would replicate that feat, both in terms of his professional status and future earnings.

Exactly wrong! Lol. If Golovkin wins and doesn't get a rematch/trilogy he might retire on top.
