What does Duva not being willing to give Kovalev a guarantee have to do with black privilege?

We need some more details. But If this is true, this is about as bad of a contract as it gets... I have a hard time believing Egis Klimas would sign off on this.

Nah I doubt that.... that was a dead rematch that nobody cared for after Jones got drilled by Danny Green. No way that fight had more money, did the PPV figures ever get released for it?

He is getting paid just not on fight night. Golden boy paid canelo just 5m on fight night for chavez. But it was reported he was guaranteed 20m. If the fight flopped he was still going to get the full 20m amount. He made 14m for the khan fight but was paid just 3.5m on fight night purse. He got over 10m after the revenue came. As long as it's stated in their contracts they are guaranteed X amount of money why get bent out of shape if you get that money today or all of it in full a week from now? Kovalev isn't fighting for free and he definitely has a guaranteed amount he is owed regardless how the fight performs. My guess is he will get at or around the same amount he got for the first fight. Main events just waiting till after the fight to pay him.

The privilege are those that can be mediocre in other aspects of life and still obtain similar if not greater financial success. Hopefully you can read between the lines.

Canelo had a guarantee. Kovalev doesn't. His money is based strictly on PPV sales which he has to split with HBO, Cable/Satellite distributors, Main Events, and Roc Nation/Andre WArd. The gate which he has to split with Roc Nation/Main Events/Andre Ward and it isn't sold out. How much money do you think is in this fight? Each promoter gets around 22% of the PPV sales. So if this does 165,000 again (which I highly doubt) at $70 a pop that's $10 mil. Main Events take from that is 22% which is $2.3 mil. So if he's splitting that by half that's $1.15 million dollars. And ain't no way that fight is doing 165,000 buys again. He'll be lucky to clear a million dollars. Fighters should have a guarantee and PPV upside is a bonus

Main Events doesn't have the money to guarantee him a purse. This is the money that's given to the NSAC to be held in escrow until the fight is over and it's given to the fighters. These purses must be reported to the NSAC. He's not guaranteed any money.
