    Names Of Active Fighters

Prompted by the thread, "I need names", I scanned boxrec's record and found that among ACTIVE fighters boxrec has on its records, the following jump up:

    * there are 4 Blacks, 13 Whites, 15 Greens and twice the number of Greens are Browns (30).

    * there are 3 fighters named Blackman, but one is a woman (Veronica).

    * there are 3 Woods and 1 Steel (Tim, a welterweight from OH)

    * there is an Ali Wyatt, a Brit with a record of 1-1-1, but there's no Wyatt Earp, unless one goes all the way back to 1958 when a middleweight of that name fought thrice and won none.

    * there are 9 Bells but none to ring them with.

    * and if these facts do not electrify you, you'll be dispirited even more to know that there is an Itzik Volt about whom absolutely nothing is known except the name.

    * there are 10 kings, but only one has any type of chance of ever reigning: Shayne, a supermiddleweight from Australia (4-1-0). The best of the rest is Nathan with 10-9-0.

    * there is a Queen who is a male. Evans Queen. He's a cruiserweight from Nicaragua.

    * The solitary Prince is Garry, aka, "Thunder", an American cruiserweight who's 2-1-0.

    * there is only one duke, but Henry Dukes makes up for it by adding the plural "s". He lives in New York but still has to win a fight anywhere after 8 tries.

    * there is only one Carpenter but three Carpinteros. There is no Shoemaker but there's one Shewmaker. What a shewmaker does, you'll have to ask somebody else.

*there's a Beck, but no Call. If you think that's cool, then you could be calling Edilberto Cool who's had one fight that he lost. You'll have a bit of a problem finding him though. His address is nowhere to be found.

    * there are 19 Walkers, no Runners, no Joggers, no Loafers.

    * there are 3 Floras (Al, Hal and Eddie), but there's no Fauna. One comes close: Mzoke Fana, who is also called, "The Rose of Khaleyelitsha". But doesn't that make him a Flora as well?

Oh well, if you think all these are just a lot of bull... let me add that there's only one fighter named Bull: Andrew, a Lightweight from England, who totes a record of 23-3-1. Bring on Corrales and Castillo!

Invitation: Feel free to add any interesting facts about fighters' names. Thanks!
