Andre Dirrell Deserves Better From You

I still think he beat Froch.

That the fight with Carl was close shows how much skill AD had.

And, in spots, he still shows that skill.

Before the illegal punch, I thought Dirrell had turned the fight and was in control.

But, make no mistake, the punch was after the bell and Uzcategui was rightly DQed...just like Abraham.

Just remember that he backed AD into a corner numerous times during the fight.

Combo was never successful til he threw the last of it after the bell.

After being warned about it earlier.

What was Dirrell supposed to do?

Continue the fight buzzed by an illegal shot?

Same guys wanted Andre to get up from getting blasted by Abraham- and it you listen to AD after that fight it's clear his brains were toast from that shot.

I don't get how folks can find fault with a guy that gets hit a clean unexpected shot illegally and want that guy to continue like nothing happened.

Truth is, he hasn't been the same guy since that shot from Artur- that illegal shot that should have resulted in Abraham getting kicked out of the sport.

The guy deserves more respect is all I am saying.

It's a miracle he is still trying...

      No he wasn't.

That last punch is what put him out.

Oh yeah, my bad. Sure you right.

Of course, you definitely have a better idea of what really happened than the ref who was standing 2 feet away...

Exactly why I started this thread.

Can't even start with the truth if it means you can't disrespect someone...

That wasn't an unexpected shot he got hit with tonight. He was still trying to defend when he was hit before, during and a second after the bell when he got dropped. But, yes, Dirrell still deserves respect either way. I think he was hurt pretty badly and he made the safest decision by not continuing the fight. It would probably have ended much worse for him had he continued.

I respect his performance and the way he behaved in the post fight interview. The only part of it that I have an issue with is when he made an excuse for his uncle/ cornerman assaulting his opponent....There's NO excuse for that.

          I disagree.

I think some guys get in the habit of relaxing as soon as they hear that bell, some (mistakenly) as soon as they hear the 10 second gavel.

All I know is AD had been backed into the ropes all night and that hadn't happened before.

I thought he clearly relaxed as the round was ending.

He "clearly" relaxed while his opponent had him cornered unloading a combination ? So with your logic ... Since Uzcategui backed AD to the ropes many times in the fight but couldn't manage to do "That" to him the time in question had to be illegal/fluke/lucky ? U say u THINK some boxers relax after they hear the bell ? Really ? Even when ur in the middle of getting a combo thrown at u while ur pinned in the corner by a guy who has hurt u in the fight already ? Alot of u defending AD are conveniently forgetting that Uzcategui Had hurt Dirrell a couple times prior to the time in question .

I don't discount the fact that AD had been hurt in the fight.

And I am not saying that it was lucky or flukey.

I AM SAYING it was a clearly illegal punch and that what happened was what should have happened.

                Flip it the other way.

Why should AD have to continue fighting while still buzzed from a punch that should never have been thrown?

                No, the right thing happened.

Nothing fake about the way he beat Froch but was robbed by home-cooking.

Nothing fake about the way he was owning Abraham prior to one of the most de****able things ever to happen in the sport.

Bet none of you calling AD a fake or fraud were calling for Arthur to be banned from boxing or even suspended for that bullcrap he did.

He ruined a guys career with some weakminded nonsense that has no place in the sport.
