His trainer didn't instruct him correctly in the Postol fight(not parrying the jab or moving laterally away from it), his corner had no endswell in the Garcia fight(a miracle they even got his eye kind of open), and management out him in a championship fight way too early after he just came from a brutal fight with the always dangerous Provodnikov!

One of the few guys I had a pleasure to watch, KO power, decent boxer, helluva engine, showed he had heart vs Garcia, Provodnikov, and Molina Jr. just was unfortunately fell short of being a world champion(would've been if didn't mind giving up interim WBC belt for the IBF when he beat Peterson)

He can beat Broner, Collazo, Berto, and Khan but too bad he won't get past Thurman, Brook, Spence and maybe even Garcia again!

His best bet is a past prime Pacquiao and if he'd beat Postol that fight would've likely happened!
    Hindsight is always 50/50!!!

He had his moments but fell short each time it mattered.

This go around at a higher weight class and an advanced age is not going to be any easy or different.

Lets see how much he has left in the tank after a long layoff before we start asserting that he can beat"Broner, Collazo, Berto, and Khan " !!!

i agree with most of your post. i just hope there is something left in him to have a good couple of fights, another chance for belt maybe, a good payday in the end. but another thing that chino had was contursi who right now is managing his brother fabian and brian castaņo (also cuellar). lucas stayed with arano who put him in war after war. poorly managed career. for example look at chino's path after a terrible loss vs alexander. he ended up fighting floyd twice lol. lucas was just too nice with the people around him (mainly his corner)

Interested to see how he looks against Taylor. Loved watching La Maquina in his prime, hope he can make one last run towards the top. Is Devon Alexander still hanging around? Maybe a rematch in a loser goes home kinda fight. Or even Zab Judah lol. I'm sure he'd probably like another shot at Garcia, but he's gotta show me something good before I would consider that one. Maybe a big Argentinian fight with the cab driver that beat Guerrero. Lots of fringe guys out there that Matthysse could go after.

I can see him in a competitive scrap with Berto, Collazo, Peterson and maybe Broner if he chooses to fight at 147.
I see all of them beating Lucas except Collazo.

And just to piss people off: Jeff Horn takes Matthysse the distance.

Quitthysse? Sheeeutttttt. If all of us were defined by our worst moments, what would you be called?

I agree that it's going to be interesting. If he beats Taylor, he will get one more big fight.
