Wardaholics don't seem to understand. Kovalev was badly disrespected in the first fight, and the badazz element of his society doesn't put up with being disrespected. I wouldn't look for Kovalev to come anywhere near showing Ward an ounce of respect this time. Expect an excellent fight this time.... unless you're a Ward fan. Then, expect to be doing a lot of sobbing afterwards.

Kovalev should just quit talking and focus on this rematch. If the fight was close then he could look at why his output and effectiveness were down in the second half of the fight and work on that or use his reach and size like he should have in the first fight.
Problem is that Ward went in there using the inside game like he was the bigger fighter.
Ward will win by a larger margin this time around and Kov knows it.

anyways. why can ward do better but not Kovalev? explain that to me? and don't say adjustments, please.
1) Ward was underdone heading into that fight, Kovalev was not..... Ward's preparation was inadequate after such a long layoff and following a jump in weight to 175..... he needed 1-2 more fights to sharpen things up and properly adapt to LHW..... Ward will be much better having those 12 hard-fought rounds under his belt, and after another specialist 175 camp with Mackie Shilstone..... he will be sharper/better/stronger
2) Ward style favors him over Kovalev, because he is a specialist at making adjustments and adapting to whatever is in front of him..... Kovalev, is not..... we have seen that throughout Ward's career..... you may not like hearing it, but it's true..... giving a master-boxer 12 rounds to figure him out will not bode well for Kovalev
the point is..... expect Ward to be more settled, more composed, more confident..... and expect him to dig a little deeper into his bag of tricks this time around..... Kovalev will have to deal with things he did not see in the first fight, and while the same could be said of Ward, it will not be anything he hasn't seen before.....
most of Kovalev's adjustments will centre around his physical preparation and his training camp..... most of Ward's adjustments will be made in his head as he thinks about the fight and replays it over in his mind before nodding off to sleep at night, and when planning/discussing the fight with Hunter
Kovalev can do better, and likely will..... but giving a master-boxer with the skills of Andre Ward another 12 rounds to dissect his game will not bode well for Kovalev
I definitely favor Ward in the rematch
60/40 Ward UD12

Kovalev admits that after the 5th round, his energy level went down:
At the 1:20 and 7:40 marks:
the point is, you cannot change those kind of things in one fight/camp.... but the improvements that Ward can make can be implemented in one camp
he was underdone, so those 12 hard-fought rounds and another 175 camp will greatly benefit Ward..... and he is a highly technical fighter who can analyse and break down what happened more effectively
Kovalev will make changes I'm sure, but expect a whole new bag of tricks from Ward

first, they said Ward was too scared to fight Kovalev
then, they said that Ward would get KTFO
then, they said that Ward got lucky
then, they said that Ward would duck a rematch
then, they said that Ward would get KTFO
this all happened AFTER Ward became the super middleweight kingpin and consensus #2 P4P fighter on the planet

I'm talking about Kovalev, friend. Don't blow a gasket by losing focus. As for the weeks right after the fight, Kovalev expressed he felt disrespected in the negotiations, at the fight, from the 'money people' so to speak, handlers (he didn't say which handlers, if they were Ward's or his own) etc etc. That's what I was referring to. Ward is no what I'm on about. And BTW, I'm just expressing my opinion of what Kovalev likely feels now, just judging by his comments, and what he will do since he feels disrespected. What happens at fight 2 may be all together different. No one knows for sure.
aah ok, fair call
but yea, Ward has his fair share of disrespect to deal with as well
