I think I understand why Joe Calzaghe is still mocked.

The guy humiliated and battered Hopkins, making a mockery of his so called good defence by landing more punches than any man before him, how humiliating for Popkins.

Then he made Roy Jones look like a club fighter who barely knew how to box, bashing him up round after round, was a bit of a joke really.
Bullied and beat those 2 with ease and not to mention beating more americans like Peter Manfredo and beat Jeff Lacy so bad you'd think Joe was his daddy.

Hating is bad people, especially to the americans out there. Give Joe his props and realise hes easily the best fighter of this generation since Floyd should have lost to Castillo.

Calzaghe isn't mocked for any of that.

He did what he did, when he did it and gets appropriate consideration AND criticism for it.

It's his fanboys that get mocked for thinking these victories are more than they were.

Joe does what he does to a prime RJJ or BHop and he is definitely in the GOAT convo.

    But, that aint what happened.

Calzaghe beat a BHop that had lost twice to Jermaine Taylor (and in their second fight Jermaine beat Bernard more convincingly than Joe did). He took on a Roy Jones that had already lost twice to Tarver and once to Glen Johnson (knocked out by both men) and won less convincingly than either of those men.

And BTW, Joe hit the canvas against both Jones and Hopkins.

I think his wins are largely put in the proper perspective by real boxing experts and serious fans.

LOL. He beat a 43 year old Hopkins and a 39 year old Jones. He's ridiculed because he could easily have made a fight with either of them at any time in the previous 20 years, but he chose to fight chumps like Guy Stanford and Carlos Christie when Calzaghe was in his prime. Calzaghe was a good technician, if he had fought in America against real competition during his prime he would have had 3-6 losses in his career and even then he'd be deserving of more respect than he is now because of the joke of a career path that he took.

Not gonna say its racism but there's a section of fans that love fighters based on race and hate fighters based on race and then the other side do the same to spite. It's pretty tedious.

Joe Calzaghe is the greatest of his generation and pisses all over the fabricated ducker Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Deep down they know this. That is why they try to discredit him at every opportunity. Having a white European be THE man doesn't suit the agenda.

Hopkins landed the cleaner more effective punches on joke calslappy, out of every 20 punches joe through he landed 1 and out of every 4 punches Hopkins threw he would land 3. joke calslappy struggled with B-Hop and made sure to leave boxing cuz he aint want none...Roy was well past it and lacy and peter were wack. As for Floyd he clearly beat Castillo it wasn't even close, only to Harold letterman that got you guys brainwashed and listening to him instead of watch the fight for yourself.

I love Calzaghe he is one of my favorites but I can't agree with this. One of the best, but he did catch the two best names in their 40's and he went a few years treading water.

                  Jones, Hopkins, Holyfield, Chavez, Whitaker are the best of recent times with Mayweather, Pacquaio, Marquez right there just slightly behind and then the rest is Calzaghe, Trinidad, Morales, Lewis, Barrera etc just behind that trio;

In my opinion of course. I think Crawford and Lomachenko are the two current guys I expect to break into that list.

Thought Floyd CLEARLY lost to Castillo but it doesn't detract too much from his resume for me. It was one fight against an excellent opponent. He did win fair and square in the return. FWIW I think they split 24 rounds about even.
