Comments Thread For: Hunter Says Andre Ward Can Still Make 168 For Golovkin Fight

According to Virgil Hunter, trainer for IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight champion Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs), his star fighter is still capable of getting down to the super middleweight limit of 168. Hunter was recently helping Daniel Jacobs during his long training camp for last Saturday's fight with IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs).

No he can't. Just pr talk for ward. He's 190 on fight night. No way is he coming to 168.

Keep dreaming Virgil, Ward is the last fighter GGG should be fighting. A Jacobs rematch is dangerous right now, so why in the world would he move up in weight to take on an elite fighter when he can make paydays against weaker opposition?

Remember, Jacobs is good, Ward is great, and based on last Saturday night, I would not make GGG an overwhelming favorite over Canelo either.

GGG is going to keep seeking out easier challenges, all that BS about 154-168 is not real, He would fight Chavez Jr and Froch at 168 but not Andre Ward, and after Jacobs performance, we now know why.

He is not overhyped, it's more he is protected, his handlers keep him away from fighters that truly can test him, including Canelo, because GGG made just over 2.5 million bucks considering the PPV bombed, so he isn't in a position to be demanding even $7 million right now.

I wonder how far into the future that fight will have to wait. I mean GGG will need to fight some people to get adjusted to the weight. Afterwards I would like to see the fight, i mean these two fighters have so much history

Just when GGG fans felt safe talking about moving up their hopes and dreams got crushed. After seeing Jacobs give GGG all the trouble he could handle??? Ward would make him look beyond ******. It would be Mayweather/Canelo 2.0
