Keith Thurman deserved a unanimous decision last night. Period point blank.

If I'm generous, I gave Garcia 4 rounds.

I don't score against a guy who boxes with lateral movement. I do score against a guy who is doing what every reputable trainer tells you not to do - follow a boxer around the ring.

That's exactly what Gift Garcia did last night. Follow Thurman around like a sparring partner - and got tagged for his troubles. Yes, he was exposed last night - same way Manny got exposed. They can't handle fighters who move effectively and never could.

I counted 3 distinct rounds where Thurman looked to be in at least partial trouble despite his movement, and scored those for Danny as a result.

So I ask the three of you. How could you possibly have given Garcia more than 4 rounds? What 5 rounds did you see Garcia winning? Name them and why.

And if I see crap like "Thurman was running", the argument is nullified if Thurman still outworked Garcia that round.

    Go.
And same way Duran was exposed against Hagler huh?

You kinda have some struggles when you moves up and fight top fighters, but it doesn't mean you get exposed.

Manny was just "exposed" as the great fighter he's.

When you're a career batamweight/featherweight and moves up to fight a welterweight matrix like Floyd, you don't get exposed because you lose to a bigger guy who moves around you using his reach.

That's just an unfair, harsh and ******ed statement.

Garcia did well IMO, he moved up to WW and fight a guy like Thurman who can box and crack, all props of the world.

    Exposed? GTFOH

He didn't get beat or much more exposed than Ward at the end of the day.

I thought SWIFT did well and Thurman was just being more active.

Danny landed the better shots of the fight IMO.

Not even in the same class. Duran was actually effective against Hagler and then made a mistake and got caught. That's not the same as Garcia walking forward against a boxer, wide open for overhands as he was.

Now you're making excuses. I'm not going to talk Floyd/Manny because frankly, Manny was already WW for long enough that he shouldn't have been embarrassed the way he was - nevermind Floyd also came up from feather. Weight was not acceptable as an excuse. The boy got schooled, just like Garcia did last night.

Yes, Garcia was new to welterweight, but he was not new to Keith Thurman's style. But are you seriously saying you couldn't see that Garcia fought the SAME DAMN WAY he fought against Khan, same way he fought against Peterson, same way he fought against Herrera, same way he fought against Matthysse?

The dude is one-dimensional and doesn't change. Thurman exploited that perfectly. That's called getting exposed - when you make the same mistakes you've always made and this fighter comes along and exploits it.

Matthysse will be fighting at WW soon vs cano iirc, how about a rematch with no low blows?

Wow! It this the first fight you've ever watched? Are you a friend or relative of Garcia or the blind judge? You know just surviving a round doesn't mean you won it, you actually have to hit your opponent. No wonder it's so easy for so many bad decisions!! Garcia got owned..... For once owning a judge wasn't enough . He stole wins before like against Peterson but this time even with what appears to be a judge in their pocket it wasn't enough.

Thurman still throws too many wild swings for my liking.

I'm not a proponent of CompuBox but Thurman supposedly landed about 17 more punches. That's about one more per round and he landed a bunch in the first couple stanzas. Garcia landed plenty, up and downstairs and was more efficient. But...he should have done more to secure a win.

you're also correct about the rounds where keith was "running." even though it appeared danny was the agressor, he did very little. thurman landed just as much, and once again, his shots were harder.

disappointed in garcia. i was one of the ones that thought the fight would be close, and possibly go either way.
This fight raised Garcia's stock to me. He didn't do much, seemed confused an ineffective most of the fight, but he took some bombs early on and at least kept trying. Garcia's definitely in the top 10 at welterweight still.

Glad there are others that saw it how I did.

You have to look at the punches though. Power punches on compubox are everything that isn't a jab.

Keith landed the more effective blows by far.

Good fight, judges made the right call. Bring on the winner of Spence vs Brook.

Particularly early on but I don't think so down the stretch.
