Yes basically, though you aren't wagering any points. Each fight you will get 0 or more points, you can't go down.

Everyone has a chance to use 3 '2X' multipliers and 2 '3X' multipliers throughout the game. There will probably be 30-40 fights, so you should use your 5 multipliers sparingly unless you feel confident.

When the ratings are updated after each fight, they will include how many multipliers you have since everyone would likely forget otherwise.
