Comments Thread For: Kovalev on Low PPV: Hardly Anyone Pays To Watch Boring Ward!

Light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev (30-1, 26 KOs) is not going to take the blame for the lower than expected buyrate for his November 2016 showdown with Andre Ward (31-0, 15KOs).

LOL at this "not my fault" bs. Of course its his fault too.

Hell if Duva just let Kovalev be Kovalev he's be the biggest bad guy in boxing right now & people would be lining up to hopefully see him lose in person & on PPV. That would also likely make Ward a good guy surprisingly despite his lack of likability or just social savvy or giving a f#ck about even being socially savvy + success at helming up himself with things he does & says.

Anyone with a brain in this business should realize you aren't going to sell a bunch of PPV's off of the two best guys in a division fighting & lil else. Few people know both these guys & even fewer give a f#ck about either guy. Neither guy is all that entertaining as they are presented outside the ring. The only thing this fight had going for it to appeal to the masses is that Kovalev can KO mfers. Obviously thats good, but lets not act like its all that great & is enough for this fight to do anything good numbers-wise.

        165k?

Hey, at least it sold more than Lil G's ppv.

The fact is Kovalev can't draw flies to ****...the last time he fought in Vegas (against Mohameddi) there were probably less than 2,000 people at the Mandalay Bay.

And what will you say when GGG-Jacobs outsells Ward-Kovalev despite being the slightly less compelling match-up?

Ward and him get similar viewer ratings so hardly anyone wants to see "exciting" Kovalev either.

That's a bold statement for a guy that hugged the f.uck outta Ward everytime Andre got in punching range.

All of the above have ****ty PPV numbers. GGG can't sell PPV. Either can Ward or Kovalev. Arguing over who's bigger is loke bragging about being the tallest person in a room full of midgets.

BTW, Ward-Kovalev is a million times more compelling. It was a legitimate superfight. Jacobsis a bum that GGG fans are hyping just to make Gennady look better. Canelo-Chavez Jr will outsell that show.
